Jack O. Rodgers formerly of Pottstown passed away on May 16, 2018 in Kennesaw, Georgia, at home surrounded by family. Born in Williamsto­n, North Carolina on March 19, 1936 to the late Violetta Leola (Biggs) and Osborn Rodgers, he relocated to Pottstown in September 1947. Jack was educated in the Pottstown School District.

Jack was baptized at Second Baptist Church, Pottstown in 1948 by the late Rev. Heywood L. Butler. At the time of his passing, Jack was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, Pottstown under the pastorate of the Rev Dr. William H. Ball, III.

Jack enjoyed a long career as a chef, working at Howard Johnson’s and then as an executive and world-renowned chef at Coventry Forge Inn, Coventryvi­lle, Pennsylvan­ia. After retirement, Jack worked with CDS at Costco in Limerick.

Jack is survived by, Mary Elizabeth (Taylor), his wife, companion and life partner of 64 years; five daughters, Leanne Elizabeth wife of Elder Charles E. Wise, Sr, Pottstown; Angela Marie Hill, Pottstown; Jacki Lorraine wife of Col (ret) Joseph D. Brown, Stafford, Virginia; Victoria June wife of Corey B. Goff, Chapin, South Carolina and Denise Gayle Rodgers, of Kennesaw, Georgia, with whom he resided with for the last two years. Jack was proceeded in death by daughter Debra Jean (Rodgers) Tucker of Pottstown.

Jack is also survived by 16 grandchild­ren; 21 great grandchild­ren; one great great grandson; two brothers, James Earl Rodgers husband of Alta of Pottstown, Warner Baxter Rodgers husband of Michele of Philadelph­ia and one sister, Mary Melissa (Rodgers) Bradshaw of Pottstown. Jack also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 11am with a viewing from 9-11AM at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 240 Mintzer St, Pottstown, PA. Interment will be at the Second Baptist Church Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations are made to the Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
