High-tech car wash plans grand opening
LANSDALE » Anthony Perillo is confident that once folks experience the sudsy indulgence of a Blue Wave Express Car Wash they’ll always want to bring their vehicles back formore.
To prove it, the co-owner of the high-tech car wash at 1246 N. Broad St. is offering a free Ultimate Car Wash for every vehicle at a grand opening celebration on June 2, between the hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting.
“It’s our $18 wash and we’re giving it for free because I want to get people acclimated to coming here,” Perillo said on a rainy afternoon that found the decidedly hands-on owner on site, making himself available to customers who were stopping in to purchase monthly packages and gift cards.
“There isno other wash in the area that is state-of-the-art like this one and I know once people try us they will be back.”
The former race fuel technician who specialized in auto detailing part-time had long harbored a dream of owning a car wash.
When Perillo and wife Caroline came upon the decades old Major Clean car wash, which had been shuttered for some time, they sawan opportunity to bring a fresh concept to a once regular spot in Lansdale.
“The equipment was old and obsolete. There had never been any capital improvements made. The place was for sale and I saw the potential of what we could dowith it after we remodeled. It was on the main drag and had been successful formany years,” Perillo said. “Since it was already an existing car wash, the water hookups were all here. There was no land development involved. So it just made sense to purchase the property and modernize it.”
With the expertise of Patrick Dolan at Dolan Construction, the business was transformed into an environmentally-friendly, modern car wash featuring efficient, high-end MacNeil tunnel equipment, an Envirosoft wash process, Innovative Control Systems menu signs and pay stations and an LED street sign continuously updating Blue Wave Express news.
Once deciding on a car wash package — single wash options start at $8 — the Blue Wave Express customer stays in the vehicle while it is automatically guided through the tunnel, where it is soaked, soaped, washed with multiple brushes, then rinsed with a spot-free solution byway of a reverse osmosis system for a high shine, and then dried with high-powered driers.
“We want to make it a more pleasant experience, not just an average car wash,” Caroline Perillo noted. “We have made it easy to pay with cash, credit, debit or gift cards. No attendants to tip, no fumbling for quarters. With 18 free vacuums we’ll eliminate the congestion that you often find on a sunny Saturday morning at the car wash.”
A water recovery system is designed to capture, filter and
recycle water so less is used, noted Perillo, who explained that Blue Wave Express offers a number of programs for customers, including a monthly wash-all-you-want Members Club — for a monthly fee, members can wash as frequently as once per day, with a Member RFID tag on the windshield identifying the car and enabling them to drive right through with no stopping at the pay station — and a 48-hour rain guarantee.
As explained at bluewave-express.com, whether
it downpours or drizzles within 48 hours of a car wash purchase, loyalty program customers may return to BlueWave Express and get an express wash at no additional charge by using a 48hour rain day code featured at the bottom of their receipt.
“Not only are customers going to leave with a very clean, dry car, they will have enjoyed an experience, a ride, not just an average car wash,” Caroline Perillo said. Hours for Blue Wave Express Car Wash are 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. For more information visit bluewave-express.com.
