Pottstown PAL Dek Hockey crowns four new champions

The Pottstown Area Police Athletic League (PAL) concluded its annual spring season and crowned four new champions last weekend.

Among the teams crowned champions were the Coyotes (Penguin Division, 5-7 year old); the Hurricanes (Beaver, 8-10 year old); the Avalanche (Cadet, 11-13 year old); and the Capitals (Teenage 14-17 year old).

The Coyotes were coached by Tony Palladino, Kyle Heffernan and Dustin Deloplaine this past spring season. Members of the team included Evan Costello, Josh Palladino, Adriana Grebe, Jaxen Nihart, Ashlyn Davidheise­r, Zach Heffernan, Brock Deloplaine, William Grebe, goalie Brody Hainley, Jaylen Hinz, Spencer Shovelton, Dennis Yost and Evan Heffernan.

The Hurricanes were coached by Kris Moyer, Dan Colfer and Andy Landis this past spring. Players included Caden Nihart, Evan Holl, Cayden Gofus, Luke Henzes, Maguire Colfer, Bo Brendlinge­r, Evan Kurtas, Logan Davidheise­r, Jaxton Majcher, Brody Majcher, Calvin McClain, Hayden Moyer and goalie Ethan Landis.

The Avalanche were coached by Al Baumeister, Michelle Saccone Jim Decker and Jason Rogiani this past spring season. Members of the team included Aidan Rogiani, Michael Mancini, Cesai Ramos, Lucious Long, Dylan Collins, Tyler Osborn, Carter Hritz, Evan Crail, goalie Ryan Baumeister, Tim Hagedorn, William Whitmore, Ryan Decker and Ben Getsie.

The Capitals were coached by James Bradley, Patrick Agnew, Mike Caffrey and Keith York this past season. Players included Jacob Reiss, Cody Bradley, Jonathan Sotak, Phillip Shiffler, Lindy Shiffler, Nate Zimmerman, Izabelle Shiffler, Shane Caffrey, Kyle Alber, Jeremy Smith, goalie Maryam Belgrave and Nathan Harper.

PAL Dek Hockey is a running variation of ice hockey played outdoors on blacktop wearing sneakers while using a ball instead of a puck.

PAL Dek uses the facility at West Pottsgrove Elementary School located on Grosstown Road in Stowe, Pennsylvan­ia. Program Director Darren Becker strives to make PAL’s largest program instructio­nal for all levels of players and most of all a FUN recreation­al sport. The program, which offers both a spring and fall season, is offered to all youth grades from Kindergart­en all the way up through the 12th grade.

Spring Season Online Registrati­on is during January and February.

The Spring Season starts in mid-March and ends mid-June.

Fall Season Online Registrati­on is during July and August.

The Fall Season starts in September and ends midNovembe­r. The season is shorter due to daylight limitation­s.
