Kara Vivienne Conrad

Kara Vivienne Conrad (nee Symons) was born in Braunton, Devonshire, England 18 November 1940 to her parents Vyvyan R. and Sybil C. Symons (nee Clarke). Kara passed away suddenly at 5:44 AM Tuesday 05/29/2018 in Obici Hospital Suffolk, VA.

She leaves behind her husband, Dennis R. Conrad of Suffolk, VA; sister, Heather Tomasek (Lee) of Stuart, FL; sons, Paul Rooney (Susan) of Virginia Beach VA and Brian Rooney of Key West, FL.

The Symons family moved to St. Vincent and the sisters who were in their teens managed a hotel in Barbados. Kara married Ralph Rooney, had two sons and divorced Mr. Rooney nine years later. She lived in Key West in the 1970’s as an advertising agent for the Key West Citizen newspaper. A Realtor in Hampton Roads for over 40 years she started in 1977 at Landmark Realtors and worked for a variety of firms such as Marshall Ewald, Rose and Krueth, the Allen Company, and Century Realty. She was the onsite agent at Walnut Hills Estates in Suffolk, VA during the 1980s - 1990s. Kara enjoyed traveling and cruises; From her second husband’s hometown Kutztown, PA, for the Kutztown Folk Festival to the Oktoberfest in Helen, GA, to the Appalachian Mountains, to the sands of Key West, FL and her favorite spot on earth Bermuda!

Kara had an Advanced Directive which stated that her remains are to be cremated and no memorial, so no memorial services are planned. Kara will be missed by all who knew her. The family is being assisted by R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory. Condolences may be offered at RWBakerFH.com.
