Fire company warns residents about scams

-

Limerick Fire Company officials want the public to know they do not use telephone solicitors for donations.

LIMERICK » The Limerick Fire Company has received multiple inquiries regarding “spoofing” phone calls that appear to have originated from the fire house.

After an internal investigation was conducted, it was determined that these calls did not originate from the firehouse, but appeared with a caller ID of 610-4892222, which is the fire station main business line.

Unfortunately, this is a way criminals will mine data in an attempt to operate scams at a later time. The reports received that calls were received at random times of the day including late night and overnight.

They all indicated there was no voice contact. The Limerick Fire Company and neighboring Linfield Fire Company do not use auto dialers to solicit.

If you receive these types of calls from any source, you can file a complaint with the FederalCommunications Commission on its website: https://www.fcc.gov/consumers/guides/spoofingandcaller-id

If there are any updates to this situation, it will be posted on the fire company website — www.limerickfirerescue.org — as well as our Facebook Page — https:// www.facebook.com/limerickfirecompany/ — and Twitter — https://twitter. com/LimerickFireCo
