Walter F. Golden of Boyertown

-

Walter F. Golden, age 84, of Boyertown, formerly of Phoenixville, died Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Seasons Hospice. Born on November 5, 1933 in Phoenixville, he was the son of the late Leon C. and Valeria (Hojecki) Golden.

Walter was a veteran of the US Navy having served during the Korean War. While on the USS Melvin, he traveled through many ports of the Mediterranean Sea. While on the USS Laffey, he sailed into the Korean War zone. Upon discharge from the Navy, he returned home and pursued many interests. He was an avid reader, amateur geologist, enjoyed scuba diving, metal detecting, history and exploring the United States.

Many times, Walter ventured north into Canada or drove cross country to visit many National Parks. Nearly all his trips included several of his nieces and nephews.

A bachelor his whole life, Walter always was one to put other needs ahead of his own. His mantras were sharing and “family first.” He made sure his nieces and nephews had opportunities to explore places near and far that they would have otherwise never been able to visit. Their lives are all richer from those experiences.

“Uncle Walt” is survived by: His Brother, Charles Golden, Nephews and Nieces, Alan Golden, Kristine Gammon, Allison Golden, Leon Golden, Patricia Hubbs, Rebecca Golden, Matthew Golden, David Felker. Preceded in death by: Sister, Mary Felker, Brothers, Leon and Vincent “Whitney” Golden, Nephew, John Golden.
