Pitching figures to be a strong point of Spring City’s American Legion baseball team this summer.

Thursday evening, Jake Skrocki did his part to firm up that contention.

Skrocki produced a masterful mound performance for the Red Sox as they hosted Lionville in a Chester County League pairing. Skrocki worked a complete-game shutout while SC put together sufficient earlygame scoring to run past the Hillcats at Ram Stadium, 8-0.

Skrocki scattered three hits and two walks over seven innings, with nine strikeouts to his credit. He got ample run support from a batting order that struck for four runs in its first at-bat and all its scoring by the end of the fourth inning.

Andrew Huang swung the Sox’ hottest bat, going 3-for-4 with a triple, two doubles and two RBI. Brad Clemens added a 2-for-2 and two RBI to SC’s offense, which collected nine hits on the night. NORCHESTER 11, OLEY 1 » The Bulldogs banged out 11 hits as they brought the “mercy rule” into play in their Berks County League game with Post 217.

Brian and Jordan Siket each had three-hit nights for Norchester, which bolted to a 7-1 lead after two innings. Jordan (3-for-3, home run, double) drove in four ‘Dogs runs while Brian (3-for-4) plated another pair.

On the mound, Austin Odell scattered two hits alongside three strikeouts in five frames. PLUMSTEAD 3, PERKIOMEN POST 0 » Perkiomen was held to a pair of hits by Plumstead in their Bux-Mont League contest.

Bryan Pijanowski (double) and Logan Curley were the only Perkiomen players to hit safely off Plumstead’s Tucker Wittman, who yielded just two walks while striking out six in his complete-game shutout stint. Trey Livingstone took the mound loss after five innings of three-hit, eightstrikeout pitching, Charlie Haag later touched for a pair of runs in the sixth.
