Burlington ousts Chester County
Things unraveled in the seventh inning for the Chester County team Friday in an 8-3 defeat to Burlington County in the Carpenter Cup Classic Friday at FDR Park in Philadelphia.
Chester County, which consisted of players from the Pioneer Athletic Conference and Ches-Mont League, built a 3-1 lead with a three-run sixth inning, runs coming from AJ Hansen (Perkiomen Valley), Stephen Posner (Downingtown West) and Brett Kochmansky (Oxford) while Pete Giombetti (Great Valley) had a double, RBI and was 2-for-2.
But Burlington County put up seven runs in the eighth to decide the game and eliminated Chester County from the competition. Burlington advanced to face Delaware South, a winner over Delaware County Friday.
Jake Skrocki (Spring-Ford) got the start for Chester and went three innings, allowing a run on four hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Jake Reese (Downingtown West) followed with three innings of one-hit ball with six strikeouts.
Other players with hits for the Chester team were Josiah Wiggins (Pottstown), Jacob Eagle (Pottstown) and Shayn Horrocks (Boyertown).
