Norchester beats Daniel Boone in extras

Patience proved key Monday night for the Norchester American Legion baseball team.

It took 10 innings and six walks for the Bulldogs to get the better of Daniel Boone, eventually coming away with a 7-6 win after scoring three runs in the bottom of the 10th.

Norchester worked four of its six walks in the final half, rallying back from down 6-4 with two outs. Ryan Glenn forced a basesloaded walk to end it, scoring Ethan Andresen from third base.

Brian Siket was 2-for-5 with a double, a run scored and an RBI while Jordan Siket had a pair of hits to go along with a run scored and an RBI. Jack McLaughlin had a pair of runs and two hits while Ryan Sayers had a pair of RBI.

Jack Rinehimer was solid in relief, giving way to two unearned runs on two hits in five innings of work.

Boone’s Jeb Kurtz finished 2-for-4 with two runs cored while Nick Barndt added a pair of hits. Barndt pitched the final 4-2/3 innings where he as tagged for three runs on six walks. He didn’t let up a hit. BOYERTOWN 9, TWIN VALLEY5» The Bears staged an eight-run third inning, giving them plenty of breathing room in this Berks County Legion matchup against Twin Valley.

Tate Yergey was 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI while Shayn Horrocks had an RBI double and two runs scored. Nolan Kline picked up the win on the mound with five complete innings where he was tagged for two runs (both unearned) on three hits and two walks. He struck out four before giving it over to Chase Mercon and Nick DiCiacco in relief.

BOYERTOWN 7, OLEY/TOPTON 4 » The Bear Cubs scored all seven of their runs within the first two innings on the way to a win in Berks County League play.

Tanner McCafferty and Sam Legerton each finished with three hits atop Boyertown’s lineup while Janson Podbutsky had a two-run double with a run scored. Podbutsky also pitched 3-1/3 innings where he was tagged for three runs on two hits. Legerton pitched the final two frames.
