Don Wallence Auto Sales is a family owned business

-

Don Wallence Auto Sales is a family owned business which opened in 1976 in its current location on 724 in Spring City. Don owned the building which he shared with a hairdresser, barber and lawn mower shop. The original property was a dirt lot with no asphalt.

Don did everything for the business from sales, detail work and as a mechanic. The first car he sold was a 1972 green Ford Pinto. One of the first renovations included adding offices and taking over the entire building for auto sales. In 1977 his major expansion included adding a repair shop.

Don’s father, Paul, helped grow the business in 1977. In 1980 Don purchased the adjacent property to dramatically increase the size of the lot. He also started a Body Shop in another Phoenixville location and through its success was later moved to a new body shop built on the current premises.

As business grew through the years they underwent four remodeling renovations, the most recent included a showroom, offices, modern waiting room, flat screen TV and fireplace. Don’s son Todd started in the business in 1980, part time after college classes as a detailer. He has been with the business since and is now president.

Something new is that Don Wallence now offers The Credit Acceptance Advantage. Credit Acceptance is an indirect auto finance company, working with car dealers nationwide to enable them to sell cars to consumers on credit regardless of their credit history. Without our product, consumers may be unable to purchase a vehicle, may purchase an unreliable one, or may not have the opportunity to improve their credit score.

Don Wallence still offers a repair facility, is equipped with the latest technology including front-end alignment machine, Snap On tire and balancing machine, diagnostic computers capable of handling oil changes, transmission flushes, tuneups, cutting rotors and drums, and leak detector. They can also provide service for all minor or major service repairs including state inspections and emissions.

Don said, “After 46 years there are a lot of new businesses trying to duplicate what we have been all along.” All cars go through a 125 point inspection to make sure the car is ready before it goes up for sale. They provide an Autocheck Carfax and a service bill to show mechanical reliability and also guarantee their cars. 65% of their business is from repeat customers or referrals.
