As I read Wednesday’s Mercury I have to agree with the bike lane debacle. I never see bikers riding around town especially in the bike lanes and I am very glad that my home is not behind the bike lane posts. If there is a medical emergency or fire how are the responders to get close enough to the house? I see a lawsuit ahead.
I heard that Pottstown School District may be going to put all the fifthgrade students into Edgewood School. Who thinks up these things? Why did they close Edgewood School in the first place? It’s just like the uniform rules.
In Douglass (Mont.) each new home built has at least two cars and also on average at least two children per home. Supervisors in Douglass and New Hanover if you approve all these new homes in five years there are going to be a minimum of 1,000 new homes. Why? Residents, you do the math. Just think what your taxes will be in five years. It’s not only the Boyertown School Board members it’s also Douglass (Mont.) and New Hanover supervisors at fault too.
The brand-new state-ofthe-art traffic signal and crossing sign at the intersection of Charlotte and Beech streets has been beeping 24 hours a day, seven days a week ever since it was installed. People who live near the intersection can’t sleep with their windows open at night. Somebody should look into this.
I don’t think Jay Miller is thinking straight when he talks about illegal immigrants being welcome in this country. It is illegal/against the law for them to come here. That’s what laws are made for, to be followed. We have enough homeless people in this country already. We certainly don’t need other countries’ problems coming here. If they want to come, do it legally.
Intelligently complaining Pottstown council members have quit. The tax committee is closed to taxpayers. A councilman’s family is growing. Hey Dan Weand, looking very good.
Those claiming that Trump is only following the policies of Obama and Bush regarding separating children from their parents are completely misinformed. The detention centers were used slowly for the limited number of immigrants who were suspected of criminal activity. So the number of children held was very small and they were quickly processed and released.
At least we have a few friends left in this world, Putin and Kim. You’re doing good Donald, keep the good work up.
It was a good day when the Trump administration withdrew from the UN Human Rights Council. Nikki Haley went in and tried to bully 47 nations into getting things her way. She blindly voted pro-Israel no matter what that country did to other countries. Often she was the only vote supporting Israel, kind of lopsided isn’t it? And last, we won’t have her illegitimate vote in the Council. She is the one who decided to leave. I’m going to take my ball and go home.
To those of us in the Pottstown School District who pay our school taxes, we would like to hear from the middle school about whether the dean of students, the security guard and mental health professional positions have done any good with greatly decreasing bullying and violence in the middle school? Most of the time no news is bad news so we would like to be updated on what’s going on.
Can somebody tell me why the police are not enforcing a law that tinted windshields be only I believe 30 percent tinted, not 100 percent? Looked inside an SUV next to me at a convenience store and in the console was an open bottle of beer. If you need to give a description of the driver, number of occupants at an accident or robbery you can’t because of the windows. They should start giving these people tickets so they know who’s in the cars.
The reason reporters keep asking the same questions at the White House briefings is because they keep getting the same non-answers from Sarah Huckabee Sanders who goes out of her way to try and defend her ignorant boss.
When I look at what our country has become I worry. Logic is gone, excellence is punished by excess taxation, mediocrity is rewarded and dependency seems to be revered. When crooks rob banks they go to prison, when they rob the taxpayer they get reelected.
I’m curious, when American citizens are arrested for criminal activity and at least detained if not convicted and sent to jail, do the kids go to jail with them or are they possibly separated from the parents? Just sort of wondering if this whole border thing is just another leftwing hysteria to stir up the masses.
