Boyertown’s American Legion baseball team returned to the Berks County League portion of its schedule Sunday.

With them, the Bears brought along their highpowered offense and shutdown pitching. The two elements combined for a 10-0 victory over Twin Valley at Bear Stadium.

While Nolan Kline and Tony Xanthopoulos combined on a two-hit mound effort, Sean Sutterby and Billy Coleman headed a quartet of multiple-hit performers that struck for nine runs in its first two atbats. The combination enabled the Bears to bring the “mercy” rule into effect after six innings, courtesy of a lone run in the bottom of that frame.

Coleman’s 3-for-4 outing featured a pair of doubles. Sutterby (3-for-3) was one of four Boyertown players with multiple RBI days — he had two, Caleb Harrison had three, Nick DiCiacco (2-for-3) and Kline each added a pair — while Tate Yergey (2-for-4) swung another big bat.

On the mound, Kline threw two-hit shutout ball for five innings while Xanthopoulos worked a no-hit sixth. WARRINGTON 9, POTTSTOWN 1» A first-inning run was all the Steelers could muster in their Bux-Mont League matinee with Warrington.

Jake Eagle had the hot bat for Pottstown, his 3-for-3 performance providing the bulk of its four-hit offense. Noah Rimel had the Steelers’ other hit, and Brandon Gebhard took the pitching loss after being touched for nine hits and seven runs in four innings. PERKIOMEN 6, POTTSTOWN 5» The Steelers stayed in it until the end, but Perkiomen pulled away late for victory in Saturday’s BuxMont League action.

The game was tied at five before Perkiomen came to bat in the top of the 10th. Trey Livingstone (2-for-4) drove in three runs while Bryan Pijanowski, who struck out the side in the bottom of the 10th to get the save, plated a pair off 2-for-4 hitting headed by a double.
