LOWER POTTSGROVE » A Pottstown man is facing charges after allegedly causing two crashes on Route 422 while driving under the influence.

James Mason Holovich, 29, of Pottstown, has been charged by Lower Pottsgrove Police in two traffic incidents that took place on June 21.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., officers responded to Route 422 for a vehicle accident where the striking vehicle had fled the scene. The driver who was struck in the incident stated that he was driving east on Route 422 when a white SUV pulled up next to him then began to merge over and sideswipe his vehicle, police said.

Once past the construction zone, the same white vehicle pulled in front of him as he attempted to exit, then slammed on his brakes causing the victim to strike the white SUV. The white SUV kept driving and continued off the exit. An independent witness confirmed this, according to Lower Pottsgrove Police.

Upon locating the driver of the white SUV, later identified as Holovich, the officer observed that he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Tests for impairment concluded that this was the case, police said.

Holovich was processed and released and is now facing charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, accident involving damage to attended vehicle or property, failure to stop and give information or render aid, reckless driving, careless driving, and disregard for traffic lanes.
