Boyertown racks up 10 hits, routs Shillingto­n 13-2

Boyertown’s American Legion baseball team blew out Shillingto­n in Berks Conference League play on Thursday, 13-2.

The Bears pulled away for good with five runs in the third inning. Doubles by Tate Yergey and Sean Sutterby (three) accounted for four of the runs before AJ Kline added the fifth on a single.

Boyertown added five more in the fifth inning, Sean Sutterby, Nick DiCiacco, Caleb Harrison, Kline and Broc Babb all with RBI in the outburst.

Chris Davis went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Bears in hits. Sutterby collected four RBI on the night.

Drew Hartman was credited with the victory for Boyertown, going four innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out three. Gavin Richards threw one inning in relief. NORCHESTER 3, EXETER 1 » Dan Stofko threw three-hit ball as the Bulldogs edged Exeter in Berks County League play.

Stofko worked the complete game for Norchester, yielding just one walk while striking out eight. Austyn Levengood, Andy Blum, Jack Mclaughlin, Ryan Sayer and Jack Rinehimer each managed hits for the ‘Dogs, who scored all their runs in the third inning. POST 217 7, DANIEL BOONE 4 » The Mavriks stayed in it until the end, but Post 217 pulled away late for a Berks County League victory.

Post 217 was down 4-3 in the top of the sixth inning before scoring two runs. Nick Barndt took the loss for Boone, yielding two runs on two hits over 1-2/3 innings with three strikeouts in relief of starter John Dinnocenti. PHOENIXVIL­LE 6, OXFORD 3 » The Phantoms snatched a late lead late in the game for victory over Oxford in Chester County League play.

Dylan Clark doubled in three runs in the top of the eighth inning, breaking a 3-3 tie Oxford forged in the bottom of the seventh. Branden Fink (3-for-4) and Quinn Danna (3-for-5) were the hitting stars for Phoenixvil­le,

with Logan Perrone pitching the final three innings in relief of starter Nick Opalkowski. SPRING CITY 2, LIONVILLE 1 » Thomas Hughes and Kevin Hynes combined on a threehitte­r as the Red Sox outlasted the Hillcats in Chester County League play.

Hughes was the winning pitcher for Spring City, allowing just two hits and one run over five innings while striking out six. Hynes threw two innings in relief, recording the last six outs to earn the save. Andrew Huang went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Sox in hits. HATFIELD-TOWAMENCIN 8, POTTSTOWN 0 » The Steelers were held to only three hits in their Bux-Mont League loss to HatfieldTo­wamencin.

Alex Stump, Noah Rimel and Daulton Mullen were the only Pottstown players to hit safely. Timmy Dobbs took the loss for Steelers, touched for six runs on six hits over 3-1/3 innings.
