Take a look at what friends and neighbors are saying about local hot topics and join in on the conversation.

Here’s what’s wrong with this country. The two-party system was started to present two different viewpoints then both sides sit down, hash it out and do what’s best for America; but both parties, and they’re both guilty, have turned this into a competition. One party could come up with a great idea and the other party would shoot it down not because it wasn’t a great idea but because the other side thought of it. It’s just ridiculous.

Since the Pottstown School District administration is fighting for fair funding and continuing to disregard the future of the taxpayers who are overburdened, maybe us taxpayers should be fighting for fair and sensible spending.

Donald Trump said that he never called for harm to anyone. I guess he forgot what he said during the campaign: “I’d like to punch him in the face,” “Knock the crap out of them,” “Maybe he should have been roughed up,” “Try not to hurt him, if you do I’ll defend you in court and don’t worry about it.” We reap what we sow. Stop comparing abortion to the immigrant children being separated from their parents. A woman has a say if she wants to have a child or not while these immigrants had no say. Besides the earth is overpopulated as it is. It can’t support much more. Are you willing to take in all these children and support them solely on your dime? I think not.

My heart goes out to all children. Children are separated every day from their parents through death, divorce or prison. Also look at the suffering babies in Africa and Asia. How many protesters give to missions or outreaches to try to help other places? We can’t bring the whole world here. We can’t even take care of our own. That’s what is sad. Now our so-called leaders have moved on to attacking anyone who doesn’t agree with them. Who’s deplorable? Lady Di

Thank you to the person who was kind enough to allow me to know where the Riverfront Park is. I’ve lived here all my life, I’m in my 80s, but things keep changing and I just did not know if there was one there or if it was down on Route 724 in Chester County so I know I was wrong on that one. Again thank you very much and I’m sure many people will enjoy the park. I too will take my turn when I feel up to it.

Jay Miller, where is all your compassion for the 2.8 million American children that are ripped from their parents’ arms while their parents are in prison?

As a resident and homeowner in Pottstown I’d like to know why all these bike lanes were not addressed to the public. They just went ahead and did it. They should have asked the people who actually live here and pay the taxes if they want them or not. What really upsets me is the amount of money they spent for it. They could have paved all the alleys in this town for that kind of money I believe.

This is to all the people who are so upset about the immigrant children. Yes it’s a bad thing but there are over 2,000 students in Pottstown who suffer from advanced childhood experiences. I don’t see people complain about them and their lifelong scars, rather all they care about is how much their taxes are going up. If you want to do something, pay your taxes.

Again from Winston Churchill, “A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity, an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” Grizz

I’m sure there are tears coming down Jesus’ cheeks over this children debacle and I’m sure there’s a special place in hell for Donald.

Just letting everybody know this is High Street in Phoenixville calling up about the first cherry tomato of the year, June 25. That’s the earliest I ever got a red tomato. Just letting you know.

To One Who Knows about how can anyone continue to support a president who repeatedly lies and contradicts himself, what president didn’t do that? That’s what I want to know from One Who Knows. Anonymous

One thing is for sure, all the Lance Armstrong wannabes should have to register and insure their bicycles. They don’t need bike lanes because they act like they own the road anyway.

I’ve always tried to keep an open mind when it comes to politics but find it fascinating that the symbol for the Republicans is the elephant, the most powerful animal on earth, while the Democrats chose a jackass. As for me, I just remember the golden rule — those with the gold are the ones that make all the rules.
