Helen E. Balmer, 88 of Boyertown

Helen E. Balmer, 88, of Boyertown, widow of Malcolm L. Balmer, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 29, 2018, at the Pottstown Hospital.

Born in Boyertown, she was the youngest of five children born to Laura E. (Grim) and Mark M. Reese.

A 1947 graduate of Boyertown Area High School and lifelong member of Good Shepherd UCC in Boyertown, Helen set aside her early career as an office assistant and bookkeeper to take care of her family in a loving and nurturing home. A supportive and devoted mother and grandmother, she took great delight in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren.

Following her days as a cheerleader and sometime athlete at Boyertown High, Helen was an enthusiastic and loyal supporter of Boyertown Area sports teams in addition to the Penn State Nittany Lions, Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles.

She is survived by her sons, Steven A., husband of Cynthia A. Balmer of Wallingford, PA, and Thomas M., husband of Elizabeth A. Balmer of Alexandria, VA. In addition, Helen is survived by three grandchildren, Kathryn E. fiancée of Lee Anderson, Steven T. Balmer and Andrew J. Balmer, and several nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by her siblings, Mary Reese Bechtel, Ruth Reese Endy, Richard Reese and Jane Reese Burfete.

Funeral Services will be held at the Linwood W. Ott Funeral Home, Inc. 111 North Reading Ave. Boyertown, PA 19512 on Thursday, July 5, 2018, at 11:00 AM.

Friends and family may call Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.

Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Boyertown.
