Assault leads crime in borough in past week

Six cases of non-aggravated assault were reported to police, according to an online crime-mapping site.

POTTSTOWN » Assault was the most reported crime in Pottstown over the past week.

According to crimemappi­ng.com, a police-run website used to inform the public about crime in their area, assaults were reported six times since June 26. All six incidents were reported to be non-aggravated assaults and occurred on the 600 block of Hawthorne Avenue, the 600 block of Chestnut Street, the 400 block of Buttonwood Street, Rowan Alley, Robinson Street and Walnut Street.

Burglary and substance violations were each reported four times over the past week. Burglaries were reported on Plum Street, the 700 block of Farmington Avenue, the 600 block of King Street and the 300 block of Beech Street. Two cases of public drunkennes­s were reported on the 100 block of Walnut Street and West Fourth Street along with one case of drug use on the 300 block of Chestnut Street and one case of drug possession on the 300 block of Walnut Street.

Two cases of harassment occurred on Robinson Street and the 100 block of East High Street as well as an incident involving disorderly conduct on State Street.

Fraud and vehicle thefts were each reported once with fraud reported on the 400 block of Spruce Street and a vehicle theft reported on the 1100 block of East High Street.
