- Go Figure Mark Furlong A Bally Resident

How many of you have noticed a little black bug with white dots on it in your yard, on your trees, your porch? Well that’s the spotted lanternfly. It first appeared in 2014 and because of inaction by our state, local and county officials now they have quadrupled in numbers. I really believe that we’re going to be super-inundated with these things. Spraying should have occurred and they should have taken this insect very seriously because it can do a lot of damage.

I wish they would have never legalized fireworks. It wasn’t bad when people would have them on the actual holiday or the night before. Now it’s just randomly any hour of the day and night, in the morning, in the afternoon, all night, firecrackers all the time. It’s so annoying. I wish they would change the law back to the way it was so I can have my peace and quiet in Pottstown.

Bike lanes in states and cities that have warm weather all year round I can see but when you’re talking about 95 to 100 degrees there’s nobody riding in these bike lanes and when it’s 15 degrees with snow and sleet, nobody is going to be on these bike lanes then either. So it’s a huge waste of money in my eyes. Instead it could’ve helped a lot of people in Pottstown out who might not have air conditioning in this extreme heat or may not have heat in the extreme cold.

This is to the person who said that the politicians want 16-year-olds to vote. If I was able to vote when I was 16-years-old I would have been dumb enough to vote for one of the worst presidents of my lifetime, John Kennedy, and that’s what would happen today. We would become a socialist country if they could vote because according to the socialists everything would be free for them. This country would be so broke it wouldn’t be funny.

Hey Donald, Kim Jong Un just made a fool of you. He’s increasing his nuclear capability under your eyes and you said he’s a great man. Yeah, he sure made a fool of you.

While the fight for $15 minimum wage movement did not cause the transition to cost-saving ordering-kiosks at McDonald’s, it likely accelerated the roll out. It is inevitable, sooner than most believe possible, that truckers will be replaced with self-driving vehicles and teachers eliminated by “robots” capable of artificial intelligence and facial recognition/interpretation designed to customize education to individual student needs.

On June 28 and 29 the Bally Lions Club had the walking path paved and finished the job. Also on the same date the Bally Borough crew started to put a pipeline in. On July 2 the Bally crew cut across the walking path to work on the pipe. Real smart.

Originally Donald Trump wanted the wall built to keep the rest of the world from coming to America. Now we’re at the point where the rest of the world wants the wall built to keep Donald Trump from leaving America.

The Mercury’s article on July 2 was funny when it said that bicycle lanes promote equity. Equity means a financial base. So if given a choice between equity and equality, I would always choose equity.

It is amazing that the Republicans keep saying that nothing has come out of the Russian probe. Well how about four Trump advisors being charged? Three have pled guilty, one lawyer charged, one digital marketing strategist, 14 Russian nationalists and three Russian companies just within a year.

If our president sees fit to push this country into a depression I think they’ll see a civil war on its heels.

It was great news to hear the YMCA would be kept open. However, the south warm water pool will stay closed. That’s the pool that many people with arthritis used. That should be kept open. Also the cold water pool doesn’t have hours in the afternoon. What gives?

What happens when these bikers in the bike lanes fail to obey the traffic signs and run into the side of my car? Who gets stuck paying for the damages? Not the one at fault. I never saw a biker stop for a stop sign.

When you wake up in the morning, screw your head on right and sing, “Love, love, love, all you need is love.”

Seriously, I mean seriously, you change two-way streets to one way to accommodate bike lanes? They ought to have their heads examined down there. I’ve never seen anyone on those bike lanes. That’s a waste of money and it’s a joke. What a rip off.
