Area congregations schedule special services
Christ Lutheran
Barto: Pastor David Penman, supply pastor, will lead the congregation in the 9 a.m. worship service on Sunday at Christ Lutheran Church, 222 Niantic Road. The ladies of the church will meet for Ladies Lunch Date at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Dairy Queen in Gilbertsville.
Butter Valley Community
Bally: An Outdoor Concert featuring Brunner Bluegrass, bluegrass gospel, will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, rain or shine, at Butter Valley Community Church, 2600 Old Route 100. Free will offering to support missions.
St. James Lutheran
Limerick: The Senior Fellowship of Limerick will meet at 11 a.m. on Monday at St. James Lutheran Church. A Red Cross Blood Drive will be held on Friday from 1 to 6:15 p.m. To sign up online go to www.redcrossblood.org then use sponsor code st james limerick and follow instructions. Appointments are preferred, but not required.
St. Peter’s Lutheran
Pottstown: Laity Sunday will be celebrated with Worship Services at 8 and 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 564 Glasgow St. A dramatic monologue in the role of Lydia will be given by Sherry. Lydia followed the will of God by responding in faith and hospitality when the Gospel message of Christ’s sacrifice was preached to her. Both worship services will be conducted by Sherry Mann and assisted by Nancy Boerner and Melinda Deamer.
Coventryville UMC
Pottstown: The Thrift Shop is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Coventryville United Methodist Church, 1521 Old Ridge Road. Rev. Kork Moyer will be guest speaker at both the 9:30 and 11 a.m. services on Sunday Emma Flinchbaugh will be guest pianist for the 11 a.m. service.
St. Luke
Gilbertsville: The St. Luke Softball Team has a make-up game at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. Vacation Bible School at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 35 Wilson Ave., will be held Monday, July 9, through Friday, July 13, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. This year’s theme is Rolling River Rampage! Students will discover an interactive, energizing, Bible-based program that will give them an opportunity to experience the ride of a lifetime with God. The Community Clothing Rack will be open on Wednesday for drop off from 9 a.m. until noon. The Clothing Rack will be open Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. for distribution.
Shepherd of the Hills
Bechtelsville: A congregation information meeting will be held at noon on Sunday at Shepherd of the Hills Church, 527 Hoffmansville Road, with a covered dish format.
First Baptist
Pottstown: Rev. David Chhangte will be the guest speaker at the 10 a.m. worship service on Sunday at First Baptist Church, Charlotte and King streets. Rev. Chhangte served as senior pastor of Parma Baptist Community Church in Rochester, N.Y., associate pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Providence, R.I., and interim pastor of Chestnut Street Baptist Church, Philadelphia. In his ministry, Rev. Chhangte has focused on local outreach, youth and young adult leadership and integrating refugees and immigrants into communities and congregations. He recently returned from North East India where he had been living and caring for his missionary parents in their final years. All are welcome.
Mount Carmel UMC
St. Peters: Volunteers from Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, 2203 Harmonyville Road, will meet in St. Peters Village today for the “Good Works Program,” an organization that helps those in need of home repairs. Brownback’s UCC
Spring City: Special music will be offered by Sharon Gruber at the 10 a.m. worship service on Sunday at Brownback’s United Church of Christ, 640 Ridge Road. Remain after the service for Social Hour in Fellowship Hall, hosted by Paul and Polly Roussey.
Zion’s UCC
Pottstown: Zion’s United Church of Christ, Hanover and Chestnut streets will again have special music at the 10:15 a.m. worship service. Earl Boehmer will present a reading “Taps” accompanied by a vocal solo of “God Bless America” by Rev. Richard Adinolfi. Please join us for musical numbers throughout the summer performed by church members and organized by Music Director Rev. Mary Etta Mest.
Trinity UCC
Pottstown: Work was completed this week to renovate the Nursery and Music Room at Trinity United Church of Christ, 60 N. Hanover St. The church will sponsor a fundraising event at Friendly’s on Shoemaker Road from 4 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11. Proceeds will be used to benefit the Youth Mission Project. All are welcome.
Bethel Community
Pottstown: Coffee and Pastries will be served during Community Sunday School at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday in the Community Room at Bethel Community Church of Pottstown, 575 North Keim St. The topic of discussion will be “Unjust Leaders” based on Matthew 23 and open to the entire Pottstown Community.
