Daytime lane closures set for Route 422 for tree trimming
Westbound Route 422 motorists will encounter a right lane closure from the Hanover Street Interchange to just west of the Route 100 interchange in North Coventry Township on Monday, July 9, through Friday, July 13, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., for tree trimming operations, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays may occur.
In addition, the ramp from Grosstown Road at the Stowe Interchange to eastbound Route 422 is scheduled to close on Monday morning, July 9, through mid-March 2019, for ramp reconstruction.
During the eight-month closure, motorists will be directed to use High Street and southbound Route 100 to access eastbound Route 422.
Both operations are part of a project to rebuild 1.2 miles of Route 422 from just east of the Schuylkill River bridge to just west of the Montgomery County line in North Coventry Township, Chester County, West Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County, and Douglass Township, Berks County.
Under this improvement project, PennDOT is reconstructing Route 422 on both existing and new alignments; reconfiguring the Route 422/Stowe Interchange to a diamond configuration; removing and replacing the existing ramps and culverts; installing new Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) equipment, message boards, cameras, signing, pavement markings, lighting, concrete median barriers, median glare screens and guide rail; upgrading stormwater management facilities and pipes; and constructing and restoring wetlands.
