Chesco Pops sets summer concert series
WEST CHESTER » The Chesco Pops Orchestra, under the direction of Joseph Gehring, will present fun, family-friendly concerts throughout Chester County this summer.
The series will present some classical music with a twist, as well as Pops classics, on Saturday, Aug. 4, at 7 p.m., at Fugett Middle School in West Chester, and on Sunday, Aug. 5, at 3 p.m., at Phoenixville Area Middle School in Phoenixville.
Tickets can be purchased at www.chescopops.org or at the door: Adults $20, seniors, $15, and children and students free. Special offer for the adults: Bring a first-time friend for free.
Classics at the Pops will feature Joe Kenney, local pianist and recording artist from Phoenixville. Don’t miss his amazing collaboration of masterful improvisations blending classical, jazz and more eclectic styles. Kenney will perform solo works as well as new arrangements for piano and orchestra that will delight audiences of all ages. And of course, you will hear the Chesco Pops perform some music of their own.
The 65 men and women comprising the Chesco Pops are Chester County residents from all walks of life, some retired and many still gainfully employed in the music field. Many also perform with one or more other instrumental groups. They all have one thing, if not more, in common, their passion for performing pops, jazz and light classical repertoire. Thanks to them and the energy and style of Maestro Gehring, the orchestra continues to strive in its mission to provide musical, cultural, educational and entertainment benefits that derive from a resident pops orchestra.
