David J. Updegrove of Lower Pottsgrove

David J. Updegrove, 87, of Lower Pottsgrove Twp., Pottstown, husband of Barbara S. (Saylor) Updegrove, died Thursday at his residence.

Born in Pottstown, PA, he was a son of the late David B. and Margaret (Hinkle) Updegrove.

David was employed by the former Stanley G. Flagg Co., as a metal pattern maker for 37 years, retiring in 1992.

He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War.

He was member of St. James Lutheran Church, Pottstown.

David was a volunteer fireman serving Sanatoga Fire Company for over 65 years. He was a former President; Vice President; Trustee; Assistant Chief; President of the Fireman’s Relief and active with the House Committee of the fire company. He was also a member of Ringing Hill, West End, and New Hanover Fire Companies.

Surviving in addition to his wife is one brother, E. Thomas Updegrove and his wife Nancy, Oakwood, GA; Nephew Brad and Niece Sherry.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, from St. James Lutheran Church, 1101 E. High St., Pottstown. Officiating will be Reverend Kay BenderBraun. Burial will be held in Highland Memorial Park, Pottstown. There will be a viewing from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday July 30, 2018 at St. James Lutheran Church.
