Police arrest suspect in slew of package thefts
Police have arrested a suspect after an investigation into multiple package thefts in the township.
NEW HANOVER » Police have arrested one suspect after an investigation into multiple package thefts throughout the township.
New Hanover Township Police Department said over the weekend that they have been investigating a series of thefts of packages from various locations within the township within the past week. Based on the investigation, two black or Hispanic male suspects were developed. They were reportedly driving a black Honda Odyssey van.
Police say they enlisted the help of the public through their Facebook page, resulting in multiple people calling to report that they had seen the vehicle at various times in various locations over the last few days.
On Friday, July 27, the van was located by police at a nearby restaurant and the two suspects were identified. Further investigation was conducted and a search warrant was served on the van. One of the suspects was later released pending further investigation. The other, Deiby Morillo,
27, was arrested for forgery, theft, and related charges, police said.
Assisting New Hanover Police in the investigation were Lower Pottsgrove Police Department, the Upper Pottsgrove Police Department, the Douglass Township Police Department, and numerous other individuals who provided information related to the investigation, police said.
