‘Little Women: The Musical’ opens at DCP Theatre
DCP Theatre presents “Little Women: The Musical” by Jason Howland, Mindi Dickstein, and Allan Knee, directed by David Williams. The show opened Aug. 3 and runs through Aug. 18. Opening weekend features Wine and Cheese and Director’s Reception. Thursday performance is Patron Appreciation Night with complimentary champagne for all patrons.
Louisa May Alcott’s beloved story of the adventures of the four March sisters is brought to vivid musical life in Little Women: The Musical. The Civil War is in full swing, and the March sisters — Meg, a romantic, the spirited Jo, sweet Beth, and playful Amy — live in Massachusetts with their Marmee while their father is on the battlefield. Filled with adventure, heartbreak, and a deep sense of hope, Little Women reminds us that “sometimes when you dream, your dreams come true.” The strong, sweet Marmee is played by Nancy Server Thompson, also seen as Nancy in DCP’s musical production of Oliver!; Meg is played by Amanda Wetzel, who last portrayed Snow White in DCP’s Family Theatre production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The stage also welcomes Megan Knorr as Jo, Madeline Burk as Beth, and Bello Carlo as Amy.
Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Final weekend Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m.
Tickets are $18 for adults, $16 for seniors, students and children under 12, and are available at the door, online at www.dcptheatre. com or by calling 215-234-0966. Groups of 10 or more can contact the box office by emailing boxoffice@dcptheatre.com for a reduced rate.
