Perk Valley boys golf splits non-leaguer at Stonewall

The Perkiomen Valley boys golf team split a nonleague tri-match on Monday afternoon with Great Valley and Haverford at Stonewall Country Club (Par 35).

Great Valley shot a combined 203 while Perk Valley finished at 207 and Haverford closed at 226.

PV’s CJ Bono matched low-round honors with a 1-over 36 while Andrew Burkhardt finished up at 39. Gabe Yackanicz and Ryan Horenci each finished at 42 while Kyle Colombo rounded out the Vikings’ scorecard with a 48.

Tyler Teague shot a 36 for Great Valley while Griffin Lownes (38) and Keith Nelton (39) turned in strong rounds. Greg Damico shot a team-best 41 for Haverford.

Girls golf

PHOENIXVIL­LE 185, METHACTON 197» Morgan Frampton’s sub-40 round headed the Phantoms as they outshot the Warriors in their Pioneer Athletic Conference match at Skippack Golf Club.

Frampton’s nine-hold 38 got her low-scoring honors. Riley Thompson was Methacton’s leader with a 43. DOWNINGTOW­N WEST DEF. BOYERTOWN» The Whippets took their PAC match with the Bears at Twin Ponds due to host Boyertown not having enough competitor­s at Twin Ponds Golf Course.

Rosie Byrne shot a 45 to give West low-score honors while Clara Houston followed with a 51. Emma Hauser (56) and Sydney Brensinger (57) were the Bears’ scorers.

Girls tennis

PHOENIXVIL­LE 4, MARPLE NEWTOWN 3» A sweep of the singles bracket was key to the Phantoms’ season-opening non-league victory over Marple Newtown.

Julie Gumieniak and Gina Brown scored 6-0, 6-0 sweeps of their respective first- and second-singles matches, with Alex Rieg adding a 6-0, 6-1 win at third singles. Phoenixvil­le’s other point came at first doubles, Megan O’Neill and Jillian Absher winning 6-1, 6-1.
