State reps to present commemorative pins to veterans
TREDYFFRIN » State Reps. Warren Kampf (R-Montgomery/Chester) and Duane Milne (R-Chester) will present special commemorative lapel pins to local veterans who served during the Vietnam War in acknowledgement of their sacrifice.
“The Vietnam War is remembered as a time of division and great sacrifice,” Kampf said. “This pin is the nation’s way of thanking our veterans for their service.”
“It is time that we acknowledge the great sacrifice made by a generation of men and women who answered their country’s call to service even during a period of great discord,” Milne said.
The pin is part of the national commemoration authorized by Congress to recognize those who served on the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam conflict.
They will be distributed in coordination with the Veterans Association of Easttown and Tredyffrin Townships on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 4 p.m., during the Tredyffrin Township Party in the Park Community Day at Wilson Farm Park, 500 Lee Road, in Veteran’s Corner.
The 2008 National Defense Authorization Act authorized the Secretary of Defense to conduct a program to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War and coordinate, support and facilitate programs and activities of the federal, state and local governments in commemoration of the Vietnam War.
The special Vietnam veterans’ lapel pin was created to be distributed to Vietnam veterans who attend these events.
