Boone’s Rahn, Slifer connect in OT for win

Caleb Rahn maintained his scoring touch Saturday. And the Daniel Boone boys soccer team kept up its winning ways in season-opening tournament action at Oley Valley.

Rahn headed in an Aiden Slifer cross two minutes into overtime, lifting the Blazers over the Saints, 1-0.

Evan Trani made six saves in goal for Boone (2-0), recording his second shutout of the tourney. Boone was coming off a season-opening 3-0 victory over Upper Perkiomen Friday — one that saw Rahn score two goals and Slifer a third, with Kevin Morris getting credit for an assist. WILDCATS SPLIT » Owen J. Roberts went 1-1 at the West Chester Henderson Tournament. The ‘Cats rolled up a 4-0 victory on Haverford before falling to Central Bucks West 2-0.

In the Haverford game, Kyle Storti scored twice to lead Owen J. Roberts. Sam Smith and Ethan Gawlik each had a goal and assist, with Sam Coroniti and Max Evans getting credit for assists.

Roberts fell to West despite holding a 9-5 edge in shots on goal and 4-0 advantage in corners. OLEY VALLEY 2, UPPER PERKIOMEN 1 » Joe McMichael produced the Indians’ lone goal in their loss to the host Lynx in the Oley Valley Tournament.

McMichael was assisted on his tally by Mike Sitko.

Girls soccer

TRIBE FALLS TWICE » Upper Perkiomen opened its season with a pair of losses at the Oley Valley Lynx Soccer Tournament.

In their opener Friday, the Indians were edged by Berks Catholic, 1-0, the game’s lone goal coming midway through the second half. Hannah Landis recorded five saves for UP under rainy, difficult conditions.

In its next game, undermanne­d Upper Perk — down three starters due to injuries — fell 2-0 to Schuylkill Valley. The Panthers got one tally in each half, the second off a penalty kick. Sierra Fretz registered seven saves in the match.

Girls volleyball

BOYERTOWN 3, BLUE MOUNTAIN 0 » The Bears maintained their fast start to the season by sweeping Blue Mountain in their nonleague outing. Boyertown won by set scores of 25-18, 25-16 and 27-25.

Emma Ludwig had 14 kills and nine assists for Boyertown (2-0), Taylor Jones added seven kills and 12 assists and Emily Wolfe had five kills, five aces and three blocked shots.
