Boyertown celebrates classic cars at Duryea Day
BOYERTOWN » Car lovers were in their element Saturday as the 53rd annual Duryea Day car show and flea market cruised into town.
Guests took a step back in time as they wandered through row after row of classic and antique cars, trucks and motorcycles at Boyertown Community Park Saturday during the annual show. The event hosted everything from sleek 1950s Chevrolet Bel Airs to more modern 2013 Dodge Challenger RTs.
The Labor Day weekend tradition, presented by the Pottstown region AACA and the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles, is a chance for car lovers and owners alike to view the best antique cars have to offer.
“We bought this car in 1978 and it was a basket case when we got it,” Robin Guigley of Emmaus explained about her 1963 Chevrolet Corvette. “Being able to show the cars out to the people is fun. We get a lot of questions but it’s just the fun. We just like old cars. You can tell the difference in old cars. Nowadays everything looks the same.”
The Corvette was just one of the five antique cars that Guigley and her husband own and one of hundreds on display Saturday.
In case the unique array of cars wasn’t enough to draw in the crowds, the event also featured a variety of foods, games and flea market stands filled with items including vintage toy cars and matchbox cars for those looking to collect on a smaller scale.
For those left wanting more, free rides to the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles were also available for guests
