John J. Ruyak, 88, of Pottstown

John J. Ruyak, 88, of Pottstown, husband of the late Janet M. (Lyle) Ruyak, passed away Wednesday August 29, 2018 at the Pottstown Hospital.

Born in Pticie, Czechoslovakia, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Kurey) Ruyak.

John served in the US Army. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends for any project. He helped build homes and installed many brick fireplaces and garages for friends. He

last worked for Cabot Corporation, retiring in 1992. John loved spending time with his family. He and his wife enjoyed traveling to Florida over the winter months for many years.

Surviving is one daughter Patricia RuyakGullo wife of David; one son Michael J. Ruyak husband of Stacey; four grandchildren Katherine Edwards (Jason), Christopher Gullo, Corey

Ruyak, and Conner Ruyak; one great grandson named after him, Johnny Edwards; and one brother Joseph Ruyak husband of Carol.

Along with his wife and parents, John was predeceased by his son John C. Ruyak, and his brother Paul Ruyak.

A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday September 8, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Aloysius Church, 23 Beech St., Pottstown, PA 19464, with Fr. Joseph Maloney officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Pottstown. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00-10:45 AM at the church gathering center. Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 711 N. Franklin St., Pottstown is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 399 Market St., #102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
