Pottsgrove girls soccer rallies back to drop Octorara, 3-1

The Pottsgrove girls soccer team rallied back and scored three unanswered goals on the way to a 3-1 non-conference win against Octorara on Monday.

Alicia Saichareun­e scored a pair of goals, including the equalizer to make it 1-1 with 15 minutes remaining in the opening half. Skylar Glass had a hand in all three of the Falcons’ goals, posting a pair of assists along with the go-ahead score late in the second half off a feed from Anna Crater.

Summer Walker made four saves in goal for Pottsgrove, beat only once by Sierra White’s gameopenin­g goal.

Boys soccer

WILSON 1, DANIEL BOONE 0 » Sage Klein scored off an assist from Devven Frey to lead the Bulldogs to a Berks Conference I win against the Blazers.

Evan Trani posted 15 saves for Boone while Ben Solsky had seven saves on the way to the shutout for Wilson. WEST-MONT CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 2, VALLEY FORGE BAPTIST 0 » The Wings defeated the defending Atlantic Coast Christian Athletic Conference champs.

Tyler Fox scored both goals while Caleb Fitzmier added an assist as West-Mont moved to 3-0 on the season.

Field hockey

SPRING-FORD 6, BOYERTOWN 0 » Kate Crist figured in on three goals during the Ram’s win over the Bears in a Pioneer Athletic Conference Liberty Division matchup.

Crist scored twice and added an assist on Alexa Collins’ gameopenin­g score. Shannon Kennedy, Mac Maloney and Olivia Wilson all added scored for Spring-Ford while Mary-Pat McKenna and Angelina Pinciotti each had assists. Ashley Della Guardia made five saves in the shutout while Boyertown keeper Laura Wigard finished with 13. VILLA JOSEPH MARIE 1, POTTSGROVE 0 » The Falcons were blanked in a non-conference

matchup against the Jems despite a strong effort from Amanda Stone in the cage.

Stone finished with 12 saves, forcing a scoreless tie into the break before VJM’s Kyley Hillegas scored the game’s lone tally with six minutes left in regulation. Marrisa Mengione finished with seven saves for Villa.

Girls volleyball

VALLEY FORGE BAPTIST 3, WEST-MONT CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 0 » The Wings lost a match against Valley Forge Baptist in straight sets.

Set scores were 25-17, 2512 and 25-19 all in favor of Valley Forge Baptist.

Lauren Houck had eight digs, a kill and four aces while Olive Smith posted eight digs.
