Substance violations lead crime in Pottstown

POTTSTOWN » Substance violations were the most reported crimes in Pottstown over the past week.

According to crimemapping.com, a police-run website used to inform the public about crime in their area, 10 incidents involving drug or alcohol violations were reported since Sept. 4. Three cases of drug possession were reported on the 300 block of High Street, the 600 block of East High Street and Jefferson Avenue. Two drug sales occurred on the 300 block of Apple Street and the 200 block of West High Street along with one case of drug manufacture on King Street. Public drunkenness was reported on the 600 block of Manatawny Street, the 200 block of Shoemaker Road, North Washington Street and the 300 block of East High Street.

Theft was the second most reported crime in Pottstown this past week. Four incidents involved thefts from buildings and were reported on the 500 block of East High Street, the 900 block of North Charlotte Street, the 100 block of South Roland Street and the 500 block of West High Street. Retail thefts were reported twice on the 200 block of Shoemaker Road and once the 300 block of East High Street.

Incidents involving fraud were reported on the 1500 block of East High Street, the 700 block of Beech

Street, the 700 block of State Street, South Charlotte Street and the 1200 block of Queen Street.

Cases of disturbing the peace were reported four times since Sept. 4. Two

cases of disorderly conduct were reported on High Street and the 700 block of North Washington Street while harassment was reported on Madison Street and the 300 block of Apple Street.

Weapons offenses were reported three times including one case on King Street and two others involving

firearms on West King Street and the 300 block of High Street.

Burglary, assault and vandalism were all reported twice over the past week. Burglaries involving forced entry occurred on the 1000 block of Belleview Avenue and the 100 block of Hillside Drive. Criminal mischief to vehicles occurred on the 400 block of North Franklin Street and the 100 block of North Adams Street while assaults were reported on West Fourth Street and the 300 block of Walnut Street.

Vehicle theft, robbery and vehicle break-ins were all reported once. A vehicle theft occurred on the 700 block of Lincoln Avenue while a robbery with a firearm was reported on the 300 block of Manatawny Avenue. A vehicle break-in was reported on the 100 block of South Franklin Street.
