Gulati, Spring-Ford boys down Boyertown

Scoring in each half Thursday, the Spring-Ford boys soccer team dispatched Boyertown, 2-0, in their Pioneer Athletic Conference Liberty Division matchup.

Spring-Ford scored first in the 18th minute after Gabe Locke worked a ball into Brett Gulati, who went far post for a 1-0 lead. The Rams scored again when Gulati played a cross to a streaking Colin Trainor, who headed home a curving goal in the top left corner. Ray Fortebuono (four saves) and the Rams defense kept a clean sheet for the fourth game in a row. OWEN J. ROBERTS 8, NORRISTOWN 0 » Josh Fonder’s hat trick headed the potent offensive that carried the Wildcats to victory over the Eagles in their PAC Liberty Division contest.

Sam Smith (one assist) had two goals while Kyle Storti, Sam Coroniti and Addison Waldman added solo tallies. Ethan Gawlik was credited with two assists. PHOENIXVIL­LE 4, POPE JOHN PAUL II0» Goals by JT Stevens, Ryan Cowan, Jake Perillo, and Kender Perez led the Phantoms in a PAC Frontier win. Assists went to Keler Garcia, Perillo, Stevens, and Dan Barry. Gavin Perillo made four saves to keep the clean sheet. PERKIOMEN VALLEY 1, METHACTON1» The neighborin­g PAC rivals played all even through regulation and two overtimes before ultimately finishing in a tie.

Methacton’s goal was scored by Brett Eberly and assisted by Trevor Rambo. PV scored with about ten minutes to go in the 2nd half on a breakaway by Max Chamarro. Brian Desvars minded the net for Methacton (2-3-1) and had three saves. For PV, goalie Josh Moyer had (approximat­ely) six saves. POTTSGROVE 4, UPPER PERKIOMEN 1» Ethan Pace netted a hat trick for the Falcons, keying their PAC Frontier Division victory over the Indians.

Pottsgrove expand the 1-0 halftime lead he secured. Ryan Curnew rounded out the Falcon scoring, Collin Deckert was credited with two assists and Luke Kaiser provided three-save goaltendin­g.

Joseph McMichael had UP’s lone goal to start the second half. Patrick McHale had an eight-save day in goal.

Girls soccer

POTTSGROVE 3, UPPER PERKIOMEN 0 » Skylar Glass figured in on two of the Falcons’ goals as they blanked the Indians in PAC Frontier Division play.

Glass got the scoring started, her sixth goal of the year assisted by Hailey Strain. Lexi Zook followed with her first of the season, and Glass added a tally off the setup of Anna Crater. Hannah Landis had 11-save goaltendin­g for UP while Sierra Fretz needed to make just three stops for the shutout. POTTSTOWN 2, UPPER MERION 2 » The Trojans and Vikings split the points in a PAC Frontier matchup. Calista Daye and Kaleigh Martin scored for the Trojans while goalkeeper Emme Wolfel made 13 saves. POPE JOHN PAUL II 2, PHOENIXVIL­LE 1 » The Golden Panthers rallied in the second half with goals from Stephanie Marinelli and Julia Hull to knock off the Phantoms in PAC Frontier action. Lauren Luciani earned assists on both PJP goals while goalie Stacy Kormos logged seven saves.

Leeza Galli, assisted by Gabrielle Perrotto, scored Phoenixvil­le’s first-half goal. Keeper Ella Stout made seven saves. SPRING-FORD 1, BOYERTOWN 0» Hope Flanegin, assisted by Ella Curry, scored the game’s lone goal in SpringFord’s PAC Liberty victory over Boyertown. Riley Wallace had the shutout for the Rams while Boyertown counterpar­t Maddie Gallagher was excellent in keeping Spring-Ford to a single score. PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 4, FOUNDATION­S COLLEGIATE 0 » Rianne Moll’s two-goal showing sparked the Panthers to victory over Foundation­s Collegiate.

Maddy Springman and Sasha Vasallo also scored for Perkiomen, Springman off a corner kick and Vasallo off a direct kick. The Panthers had a 12-4 edge in shots on goal and 9-0 advantage in corners.

Boys golf

OWEN J. ROBERTS 191, NORRISTOWN 236 » Though Josh and Caleb Ryan had individual success for the Eagles, the Wildcats rode a more consistent team showing to win this PAC match at Kimberton.

Josh was one-under-par at 33 while Caleb went an even-par 34. But Jack Murray and Sam Mitchell shot 37s to lead OJR, with Ryan Glenn and Conrad Benford at 38 and Ben Samuelson at 39. SPRING-FORD 184, PERKIOMEN VALLEY 197 » Nate Pierce tore up the Raven’s Claw front nine to key the Rams’ PAC victory over the Vikings.

Pierce’s 32 was four strokes under par. Luke Watson also went one-under with a 35, and Alex Kalbach played even par ahead of PV’s C.J. Bono (37) and Ryan Horenci (38). POPE JOHN PAUL II 202, POTTSGROVE 212 » Jack Hershey and Paul Brady shared lowman honors for the Golden Panthers in their PA match with the Falcons.

Hershey and Brady shot 38s at Gilbertsvi­lle, one stroke better than Pottsgrove leader Cameron Mowery’s 39. The Lions put the match away with ben Grimm, Jason Teefy and Alex White all carding 42s. METHACTON 189, PHOENIXVIL­LE 211 » Jason Reigner’s strong round headed the Warriors’ PAC victory over the Phantoms at Pickering Valley.

Reigner carded a twounder-par 34 as Methacton turned in the day’s five lowest scores. Dylan Lasecki followed Reigner with a 38, and Nick Martin, Andrew Catania and A.J. Thomas all had 39s ahead of Phoenixvil­le leader J.T. Sinnott (40).

Girls golf

METHACTON 184, SPRINGFORD 209 » Recording four of the five lowest cards, the Warriors outshot the Rams in their PAC match at Skippack.

While Riley Thomas tied SF’s Cassidy Landis for lowscore honors, Methacton followed with a 46 from Sarah Lawrie and 47s from Ashley Liu and Jackie McCue. Aleena Ghanta was the Rams’ next lowest score at 52. DOWNINGTOW­N EAST 196, BOYERTOWN 257 » The Cougars turned in the day’s five lowest scores to roll up a PAC win over the Bears at Whitford C.C.

Ava O’Sullivan and Liddie McCook shot 48s for East to share low-score honors. Boyertown’s leader was Emily Burger at 59. UNIONVILLE 180, PHOENIXVIL­LE 196 » Charlotte Scully had the day’s lone sub-40 round in leading the Indians to victory over the Phantoms in a non-league match at Turtle Creek.

Scully carded a 39 for Unionville. Phoenixvil­le’s leader was Morgan Morris at 45.

PHOENIXVIL­LE 7, BOYERTOWN 0 » The Phantoms lost just two games in the singles bracket on the way to their PAC sweep of the Bears.

Julia Gumieniak and Gina Brown had 6-0, 6-0 results at first and second singles, respective­ly, for Phoenixvil­le. Boyertown’s best individual outing was at fourth doubles, where Raegan McDevitt and Riley Penna forced a tiebreaker outcome for Annie Absher and Kiley Mangialard­i. PERKIOMEN VALLEY 7, UPPER PERKIOMEN 0 » The Vikings won all matches in straight sets in their PAC contest with the Indians.

Olivia Newman and Emily Shoemaker had a 6-0, 6-0 win at first doubles, UP’s best individual outing came in doubles, where Bella Taylor and Aubrey Lutz won four games in the fourth spot. SPRING-FORD 7, POPE JOHN PAUL II 0 » The Rams recorded a straight-sets sweep of their PAC match with the Golden Panthers.

Lucy Olsen and Emma Griffin led Spring-Ford with a 6-0, 6-0 showing at second doubles. PJP’s best individual effort was at third doubles, where Lydia Tewell and Kylee Smith won three games. METHACTON 7, POTTSGROVE 0» The Warriors lost just two games through the lineup in their PAC roll over the Falcons.

Tina Prince and Karen Li won their respective second- and third-singles matches by 6-0, 6-0 verdicts. Three of Methacton’s doubles teams also posted 6-0, 6-0 wins. OWEN J. ROBERTS 7, POTTSTOWN 0 » The Wildcats won all contested matches in straight sets to roll past the undermanne­d Trojans in their PAC contset.

Maria Monteleone, Lien Nguyen and Reagen Amand headed the run with their sweep of the singles bracket, each player losing just two games. Roberts’ sweep of the doubles was a result of Pottstown not fielding teams past the first spot. DANIEL BOONE 7, SCHUYLKILL VALLEY 0 » The Blazers continued their roll over Berks Conference opponents by sweeping the Panthers.

The best individual showing for Boone came from Rachel Haag at fourth singles, who handled Madison Kepner 6-0, 6-1.

Girls volleyball

UPPER MERION 3, BOYERTOWN 1 » The Vikings won their PAC match with the Bears, rallying from an opening-set loss 26-24. UM’s set victories were by scores of 25-11, 25-20 and 25-15.

For the Bears (2-1, 6-2), Taylor Jones had 10 kills, four aces and nine assists; Julia Smith added nine digs and two assists; Emily Wolfe had nine kills, six digs, four aces and two blocks; and Emma Ludwig chipped in with 11 digs, 11 assists, two kills and two aces. SPRING-FORD 3, METHACTON 0» The Rams swept their PAC match with Methacton by set scores of 25-22, 25-21 and 25-21.

Olivia Olsen had 17 kills, 10 digs and two blocks for Spring-Ford, which got 26 digs from Grace Kraft. Anoushka Patel added 19 assists and nine digs, and Lindsey Dadorian had six kills and three blocks. PHOENIXVIL­LE 3, COLLEGIUM CHARTER 0 » The Phantoms swept their non-league match with Collegium by set scores of 25-8, 25-15 and 25-15.

Kayla Grammersto­rf had seven aces, 10 kills and seven digs for Phoenixvil­le, with Keara Hennessey scoring five aces, 25 assists and two kills. Romina Broglia contribute­d seven kills and Hayden Perrone one ace and five digs. AGNES IRWIN 3, OWEN J. ROBERTS 0 » Agnes Irwin swept its non-league match with the Wildcats by set scores of 25-23, 25-14 and 25-23.

For Roberts, Michelle Frank had two kills and one ace, Catherine Cervi three blocks and Mikayla Johnson two kills. WEST-MONT CHRISTIAN 3, RENAISSANC­E AC. 2 » The Wings outlasted Renaissanc­e, rallying from a 2-1 deficit. Renaissanc­e’s set scores were 25-21 and 25-20, with West-Mont’s 25-18, 2522 and 15-13.

Rachel Hetrick recorded three kills, 10 assists and two aces for West-Mont, with Lauren Houck adding 16 digs.
