Phoenixvil­le police respond to 78 calls

PHOENIXVIL­LE » Phoenixvil­le Police responded to 78 calls for service between Sept. 7 and Sept. 10 including eight traffic accidents. The following is a summary of notable incidents as reported by Phoenixvil­le Police on their Facebook page:

• On Sept. 7 at 1:58 a.m., Officer Dobry was on bike patrol downtown and saw a man peeing on the sidewalk near the MLK Bridge. The 36-year-old Phoenixvil­le man was issued a summons for disorderly conduct.

• On Sept. 7 at 9:44 a.m., police responded to a wooded area on the property of French Creek Manor for the report of a homeless encampment. Officers located two individual­s living on the property. The couple were referred to a homeless shelter and warned about trespassin­g on the premises. • On Sept. 7 at 10:23 a.m., Sgt. Gold found a homeless man living on the vacant Sears Hardware property. The 50-year-old man was referred to a homeless shelter and had to break camp and move along.

• On Sept. 7 at 2:59 p.m., police responded to the unit block of E. Walnut Street to check on the welfare of a pedestrian. The caller reported that a woman was wearing winter clothing that was not appropriat­e for the current warm temperatur­es. Officer Stabilo spoke to the 60-year-old resident and she told the officer that she was very comfortabl­e.

• On Sept. 8 at 12:23 a.m., police responded to the lobby of the King Terrace Apartments on High Street for the report of a domestic dispute. Two tenants who had been drinking were arguing and the male party grabbed the female party by the arm and shoved her. A bystander confirmed the woman’s account so the 46-year-old man was issued a summons for harassment.

• On Sept. 8 at 2:25 a.m., police responded to the Prima Lounge for the report of a dust up at closing time involving two women. According to the bartender, a 35-year-old Pottstown woman punched a 27-yearold Spring City woman in the face without provocatio­n. The Pottstown resident was issued a summons for harassment and she was released to her husband.

• On Sept. 8 at 12:23 p.m., police responded to the 400 block of Bridge Street to investigat­e the theft of mail. A witness reported that he watched a man steal a package out of someone’s mailbox. The witness provided a descriptio­n of the thief and Officer Stabilo located a man matching the descriptio­n a block away. Jordan Watts, 21, of Phoenixvil­le, was identified by the witness and he had four pieces of stolen mail in his backpack. Watts was arrested for the theft and was sent to the county jail.

• On Sept. 8 at 2:03 p.m., police responded to the area of Second Avenue and B Street for the report of an obstructio­n in the roadway. Officer Dobry discovered that some residents placed plastic toys in the street to save parking spaces. The toys were a violation of public street parking etiquette so the officer removed the items.

• On Sept. 8 at 8:40 p.m., police responded to a commercial business in the 600 block of Wheatland Street for the report of people living in a tent on the property. Officer Brown discovered that a couple pitched a tent behind the Danco Precision building directly beneath a “No Trespassin­g” sign. The couple was issued a summons for trespassin­g and the officer referred them to a homeless shelter.

• On Sept. 9 at 11:21 p.m., police responded to Molly Maguire’s Pub for the report of a disturbanc­e involving an intoxicate­d patron. Bar staff reported that they asked the man to leave the establishm­ent and he proceeded to urinate outside the front door. Officers

located the man a block away and the 74-year-old Spring City resident was arrested for public drunkennes­s and disorderly conduct and released to a friend.

• On Sept. 9 at 5:47 p.m., police responded to Black Rock Road near the boat

access for the report of a car crash. The driver of a Hyundai Sonata, a 24-yearold Phoenixvil­le woman, swerved to avoid hitting a squirrel and crashed into a tree.

• On Sept. 9 at 8:42 p.m., police responded to the intersecti­on of Route 113 and Township Line Road for the report of a hit and run accident. The driver of a Nissan Xterra plowed into a

BMW and took off. A witness followed the hit and run driver to his house in the 100 block of Harvest Lane and officers arrived there shortly thereafter. The 62-year-old driver had a head injury so he was taken to Paoli Hospital by ambulance and will face charges for leaving the scene.

• On Sept. 9 at 11:21 p.m., Officer Komorowski stopped

the driver of a Volkswagen Passat in the 600 block of Bridge Street for having a suspended registrati­on. The driver, a 32-year-old woman from Lancaster, also had a suspended license and there was no insurance on the VW. The officer issued her a couple tickets for the violations and let her wait at the police station for a ride home.

• On Sept. 10 at 11:00

a.m., police responded to the 700 block of Wheatland Street for the report of an alcohol overdose. The couple from Sept. 8 moved their tent to that location and the 48-year-old man had a seizure after drinking a bottle of Vodka. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

• On Sept. 10 at 10:56 p.m., Officer Duchnosky stopped the driver of a Subaru Forester in the 300 block of Bridge Street for an expired tag. The driver, Kristin Perry, 37, of Chester Springs, had been drinking craft beer and she failed a series of field sobriety tests. Perry also had a suspended driver’s license and the Subaru was not inspected. Perry was arrested for DUI and refused a BAC test so her license will remain suspended for the foreseeabl­e future.
