I was reading in The Mercury about the problems they have in Texas with the squirrels taking bites out of everything and I have what I think is a solution. If you have a problem with squirrels, sprinkle cayenne pepper. Once they take a bite of the cayenne pepper they don’t bother with the stuff anymore.

I love all the people who say about the immigrants shooting people and committing all these crimes. What about the mass shooting in Las Vegas where 59 people were killed by an American citizen? What do say about that? You can’t blame that on an immigrant. —Jay Miller

Sen. Dianne Feinstein is a Democrat with an antigun agenda. She wants the Second Amendment annulled and the Supreme Court nominees to agree with her position. But she said that if somebody is going to take me out, I’m going to take them out with me. Now she has as a U.S. senator a fully armed body guard. Diane got her gun. Too bad about yours. —Sanatoga Paul Revere

The $1.5 million grant that will help pay for the community center in Phoenixville is a wonderful thing but originally the grant included the senior center and now the senior center is not going to be located here and I would like to know why? The senior center wants to be there, the people in Phoenixville want the senior center to be there. So what happened and is this grant still good since the senior center is not going to be there? —Phoenix Mom

Mom’s Mobley stated that Gov. Wolf has done nothing regarding property taxes. He apparently is ignorant to the fact that taxes are imposed and repealed by the state legislature which has been held for sometime by Republicans. Gov. Wolf has proposed a tax on natural gas extraction to replace property taxes several times but the Republican legislature won’t even consider that alternative, a position which some believe is to protect their large financial donors. —A Concerned Senior Citizen

I see after the hurricane in Puerto Rico last year FEMA announced that they would help with funeral services, money would be given out, and now all of a sudden the death rate went closer to 3,000.

To Mark Furlong, have you somehow gotten security clearance to read all those pages of the 2019 Affordable Care Plan? Do you even wonder how those premiums will decrease? I’ll tell you, when the benefits and quality of my care go straight down the toilet. Good for you if you don’t need health care coverage but for most of us it’s a matter of life and death. —Get All The Facts First

Oh yeah Obama was such an honorable man. I guess that’s why he took his family to the church where the preacher says “God damn America” and then he goes to a party with a known terrorist whose bombs killed police officers in New York, and that shady land deal so that he could expand his property in Chicago. Of course Chicago is too dangerous, he doesn’t go back there anymore.

The Sound Off contributor who disputed Obama’s unquestionable intelligence and high moral character seemingly based his conclusions upon sources such as, and I quote, “kind of stuff, liberal nonsense, all sorts of stuff and what have you.” A really scholarly research job. —Frattbak

The Edgewood Cemetery grass is ridiculously high. If it was a personal property in the Borough of Pottstown they would be fined by now. Whoever is managing the Edgewood cemetery, it’s horrible. Please do something about this. It is a disgrace to everyone that is buried there.

Tractor Supply presently has the 30-foot long fly paper strips that are being used against the lanternflies.

This Sound Off is to Donald Trump. Why Donald, why why did you send that hurricane to Puerto Rico? I just don’t get it. —JCS

Thank you to the Hill Church for the best blue grass concert. They had lots of people there and they could have had more. The food was great and the gentleman behind me paid for my French fries which was a very nice gesture. It was really, really a good concert. They’re having a buckwheat pancake breakfast so watch the papers for when that will be. Thank you again. — Janice Hull

Judge Kavanaugh has been accused of sexually attacking a 15-year-old girl when he was 17. He has denied he ever met the girl. Now some Republicans are saying “Wait a minute, he was only 17 at the time, that’s over 30 years ago.” That’s a good argument. However he said it never ever happened. He cannot have it both ways. If he has lied he should never be on the highest court of the land period. —DP Sound Off is a forum to spur dialogue from residents of the communities we serve on topics of interest in those communities.
