Carnival for a Cure to return for 6th year

PHOENIXVIL­LE » The sixth annual Carnival for a Cure will be held starting on Thursday, Sept. 20, at Reeves Park in Phoenixvil­le.

The carnival is open on Thursday from 5-9 p.m., Friday from 5-9 p.m., Saturday from 1-9 p.m., and Sunday from 1-5 p.m.

The event features rides and games midway provided by AEB Amusements, food, free stage entertainm­ent, vendors, raffles, and a whole lot of fun. The event is open to all and has something for all ages.

This event is held by and benefits The Get Well Gabby Foundation. The mission of the foundation is to help children faced with a cancer diagnosis to get well.

The Get Well Gabby Foundation was formed in 2012 after 5-year-old Phoenixvil­le resident, Gabby Vogel passed away from Diffuse Intra Pontine Glioma.

The foundation financiall­y supports individual children and their families through the Gabby’s Gift Program, funding was provided to build a dedicated Oncology playroom at our local children’s hospital. The foundation’s funding was instrument­al in the creation of one of the first electronic medical records for pediatric cancer.

The new book program provides new books for oncology patients at children’s hospitals across the nation, and the foundation’s newest initiative is providing BELIEVE bags that will provide comfort to newly diagnosed childhood cancer patients at participat­ing hospitals.
