Alan D. Sweisford, age 69, of Pottstown, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 17, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on December 26, 1948, in Pottstown, he was a son of the late John and Cecelia (Leuchak) Sweisford, and the beloved life partner to Patricia Henry. Alan worked for many years for DM Transporta­tion until his retirement in 2016. Alan was involved in many clubs and organizati­ons, and was very active in the community. He dedicated his time to such places as the Elks Club of Pottstown, the Pottstown Historical Society, Spring Ford Historical Society, Reading Traffic Club, the Royersford VFW, American Legion, the East End Athletic Club, and was very proud of his service to his country in the US Army. Alan’s interests ranged from exploring local history to traveling throughout Pennsylvan­ia and the country, enjoying restaurant­s in every town he visited. He was a member of numerous golf leagues, and known for his infamous Annual Red House Open

Alan is survived by one son, Daniel Sweisford; one sister, Susan (Randolph) Umpstead of Pottstown, PA; two brothers, Edward (Jill Starr) Sweisford, and Brian (Sharon) Sweisford; one grandson, Henry Giles; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects for Alan at the Pottstown Elks Club, 61 E. High St., Pottstown PA 19464, from 12:30 1:00PM on Saturday, September 29, 2018. A memorial service and celebratio­n of life will follow at 1:00PM. Family and friends are invited to join the family in food and fellowship after the services at the Elks Club.
