Police find gun, drugs, cash inside vehicle

PHOENIXVIL­LE » Police have charged a man after they say his car contained a loaded firearm, various drugs and nearly $40,000 in cash.

Officers were called to Gay Street and Nutt Road at around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday for a well-being check on a man who appeared to be asleep behind the wheel at the intersecti­on, Phoenixvil­le Police said in a statement Friday.

Upon arrival, police found a 2002 Cadillac DTS sedan at the intersecti­on with a man inside.

Police identified the driver as Michael Lombardi, 34, of Phoenixvil­le, who officers say appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Additional­ly police say there was also evidence of drugs in the car.

Lombardi was taken into custody and the vehicle was towed

from the scene and secured at the police station.

Police say while Lombardi was incarcerat­ed in the holding cell, he damaged one of the cameras inside the cell.

Authoritie­s later executed a search warrant on Lombardi’s vehicle which yielded a loaded 9mm handgun, cocaine, oxycodone pills, amphetamin­e salts, four cellphones, drug parapherna­lia and a total of $39,931 in cash.

Lombardi, whom police say has several other drug conviction­s and is parole, has been charged with possession of firearms prohibited, carrying a loaded weapon, possession with intent, possession of drug parapherna­lia, possession of a controlled substance, possession of an adulterate­d or misbranded controlled substance, driving under the influence, institutio­nal vandalism and operating a vehicle without a valid inspection.

He was arraigned and remanded to Chester County Prison in lieu of $50,000 cash bail.
