Jean G. H. Jones of Pottstown
Jean G. H. Jones, 81, of Pottstown, PA, died peacefully at home on Saturday, September 22.
Jean was born Jean Gilchrist Haas on May 7, 1937 in Manhattan to John George Haas III and Jean (Potter) Haas.
Jean attended the Brearley School, then earned a B.A. at Muhlenberg College and a teaching certificate at Kutztown University. She then taught English at Tamaqua High School, where she met Walter Jones of Spring City, PA.
Inseparable from their first days together, Walter and Jean had three children who benefited unceasingly from their caring, committed relationship.
An avid singer of sacred music with the Ursinus College Choir and the St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church choir in Douglassville, Jean also took great joy in nurturing her extended family and offering love, charity, and gentleness to everyone she met. Jean also spent many years as a home health aide, improving life for many seniors.
Jean is survived by her husband, Walter; her three children, Andrew, Jeffrey, and Heather; their spouses, Rebecca, Joanne, and Louis; and seven grandchildren (Stella and Vincent Jones, Elisabeth and Neal Jones, and Alice, Miles, and Milena Fodor).
There will be a visitation at Shalkop Grace & Strunk Funeral Home, 135 Bridge Street, Spring City, PA this Thursday, September 27, from 6:308:30 p.m. A memorial service will be held later this year.
