Police charge man for drugrelated death
EXETER » Police announced Wednesday that they have charged a man after investigating an overdose death this summer.
Police have charged Kevin Rauch, 52, of Reading, after an investigation into the overdose death of a 28-yearold Exeter Township man.
On Aug. 22, Exeter Township Police responded to a report of an unresponsive male. The man was pronounced dead at Reading Hospital later that day. Following an autopsy, his death was determined to be from acute heroin and fentanyl toxicity, according to a post from the Berks County District Attorney’s Office.
Exeter Township Police Officer Andrew Walbert analyzed the victim’s phone and developed a suspect later identified as Rauch.
Officer Walbert interviewed Rauch, who admitted that he sold heroin to the victim on the evening of Aug. 21. Additionally, Rauch told investigators that he suspected that the substance he sold to the victim also contained fentanyl.
Rauch is being charged with drug delivery resulting in death, delivery of controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and criminal use of communication facility.
He is currently incarcerated at Berks County Prison on $250,000 secured bail.
