David Lee Towers died in Myerstown, Pennsylvan­ia, on September 22, 2018, following a twoyear struggle with failing health.

Born March 13, 1931, to Paul E. and Dorothy (Antrim) Towers, and raised in Pottstown, Pennsylvan­ia, Dave graduated from Pottstown High School, Millersvil­le University, and Temple University’s Master’s Degree Program.

Following his service in the U.S. Army, Dave joined the teaching staff of Admiral Farragut Academy, Pine Beach, New Jersey, where he taught social studies and coached wrestling. In 1958, Dave began teaching in public schools in the Black Horse Pike Regional District, Camden County, New Jersey, first at Triton Regional in Runnemede, and then as Supervisor of Social Studies at Highland High School, Blackwood, from which he retired.

Dave was a lover of classical music; a reader of history books; an avid news “junkie”; a great fisherman, especially in the trout streams of Perry County; and loved small game hunting with his father and brother.

After retiring and moving back to Pennsylvan­ia, Dave was actively involved in restoratio­n projects of the Isaac Meier Homestead, and talked with local school students when they toured the Homestead.

Dave was married to the former Doris Kipp, of Newport, sixty-one years ago. They are the parents of three daughters: Kimberlee Trunzo (Ronald), Lauri Donzuso (Alfred), and, Marybeth Jensen (Robert); 4 grandchild­ren, include Bethany McClure, Nathaniel Trunzo, Ryan Jensen, and Shelby Jensen; 4 “greats” are Maeghann, Will, Josh, and Zakk McClure; also surviving are niece, Donna Lee Towers, and nephew, Charles Paul Towers.

In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his brother, Charles P. Towers, Pottstown, Pennsylvan­ia.

A memorial service will be Saturday, September 29, 2018, at Grose Funeral Home, 358 West Washington Avenue, Myerstown, PA, beginning at 11 a.m. There will be no viewing. Following the service a reception for family and friends will be held at the Arbor Gate Community Center, Myerstown.
