- From Pastor Rod O’Donnell Green Tree Church of the Brethren

OAKS >> The Green Tree Church of the Brethren, 1078 Egypt Road, has constructed and opened a “Blessing box” on its property on Egypt Road. The Blessing box is a large cabinet containing non-perishable food, paper products, personal hygiene items, diapers, etc. The idea is simple. The box is for everyone’s use and they can take what they need and leave what they can. Its purpose is to help low income families, people who have lost their jobs, people just trying to make it to the next pay check, actually anyone in need. You can take what is needed from the box and it is our hope that it will be a blessing for you.

Some items that ultimately will be available in the Blessing Box are food items such as canned goods, soups, mac and cheese, spaghetti sauce, peanut butter, jelly, baby food, powdered milk; hygiene items such deodorant, shampoo, powder, toothpaste, tooth brushes, feminine products, bandaids, soap; paper Products such as paper towels, toilet paper, tissues, diapers, baby wipes; cleaning products such as dishwasher soap, laundry detergent, all purpose cleaners, sponges, cleaning cloths, window cleaner; seasonal items such as fresh fruit and vegetables, bread, sunglasses, hats and gloves, snow shovels, salt.

The Blessing Box is located at the far end of the front parking lot near the church garage. It is fully lit in the evening and never locked. Anyone needing any of these products should feel free to take whatever is needed at any time. Blessings can come in many ways and the Blessing Box is just one of them.
