Phoenixvil­le Police respond to 127 calls in a week

PHOENIXVIL­LE >> Phoenixvil­le Police responded to 127 calls for service, including five traffic accidents, between Oct. 8 and Oct. 14.

The following is a list of notable incidents as reported by Phoenixvil­le Police on their Facebook page:

• On Oct. 8 at 1 a.m., police responded to the banks of the French Creek west of the Veteran’s Memorial Bridge for the report of a homeless encampment. Officers checked the area and found two tents, a lean-to, and a good amount of trash scattered about. A naked man was sleeping inside one of the tents on a mattress. The officers informed the 60-year-old man that he had to vacate the property and clean up his mess. He was referred to a shelter.

• On Oct. 8 at 8:29 a.m., Officer Fusco was patrolling in the 300 block of Locust Drive and heard a smoke alarm going off inside a home and a voice proclaimin­g “Fire!” over and over. The officer knocked on the door several times but there was no answer. The front door was unlocked so the fire department responded to check the home. The residents were not home and the smoke detector was malfunctio­ning.

• On Oct. 8 at 12:30 a.m., a resident in the 400 block of Nutt Road reported that someone stole her 2016 Hyundai. An officer informed her that the bank actually repossesse­d it about an hour before she reported it stolen.

• On Oct. 8 at 7:44 p.m., police responded to the Bistro on Bridge for the report of an assault. A patron reported that he was seated next to an open window in the dining area when he was shot in the chest with a BB pellet. The 46-year-old Wayne resident did not see where the BB came from but the projectile broke the skin under his shirt. An hour later, another resident reported that he was walking on Franklin Avenue and someone drove by in a white car and shot a BB at him. Officer Dobry watched the security video from Bistro on Bridge and identified the white car as a Plymouth Sundance or Dodge Shadow with a yellow license plate.

• On Oct. 8 at 10:52 p.m., Officer Dobry was patrolling in the 400 block of Bridge Street and a man flagged him down and asked for a ride to the Norristown Transporta­tion Center. The man told the officer that he missed the last bus out of town and the officer agreed to give the 24-year-old Upper Darby man a ride. Prior to getting into the police car, the man informed the officer that he had some weed on him and he surrendere­d his stash. The officer still gave him a ride but it cost him a summons for the drug violation.

• On Oct. 9 at 2:38 a.m., a resident in the 1100 block of Township Line Road reported that someone stole his miniature motorcycle. The black 2015 Honda GROM PA #8AW10 was taken from the resident’s driveway sometime between 1:30 a.m. and 2:30 a.m.

• Officer Fusco saw a wanted man sitting on his front porch in the 600 block of Gay Street on Oct. 9 at 9:48 a.m. Richard CorderoPin­o, age 30, had a county bench warrant so the officer jumped out and arrested him. Cordero-Pino was sent directly to the county jail.

• On Oct. 9 at 7:19 p.m., police responded to a home in the 100 block of Gay Street for the report of a family dispute. A 60-yearold man and his 33-year-old step-son got into an argument and it escalated into a fist fight. Both men blamed the other for starting it so they were both issued summonses for harassment.

• On Oct. 9 at 9:33 p.m., a resident in the 900 block of Township Line Road reported that someone shot the front window of her home with a BB and shattered the glass.

• On Oct. 10 at 8:49 a.m., police responded to the ER at Phoenixvil­le Hospital for the report of an unruly patient. The disgruntle­d man left before the police arrived but Officer Stabilo located him in the Dunkin Donuts parking lot. The man was still in pain and asked for a ride back to the ER. He assured the officer he would behave himself. Prior to getting into the police car, the man informed the officer that he had some weed on him and he surrendere­d his stash. The officer still gave him a ride but it cost the man a summons for the drug violation.

• On Oct. 10 at 10:17 p.m., a resident called 911 twice and reported that he wanted to go to rehab and then hung up. Officers tracked the man’s phone to an apartment in the 100 block of Marshall Street. The 58-year-old man was drunk and denied calling 911. He told the officers that he had no desire to go to rehab.

• On Oct. 11 at 5:36 p.m., a resident in the 100 block of Columbia Avenue reported that her next door neighbor was beating on her exterior home security camera with a metal pole. Officer Ansaldo spoke to

the neighbor and she denied doing such a thing. However, the video footage showed a close-up of her hitting the camera so she was issued a summons for harassment.

• Police received a call from a motorist who reported that she was involved in a car crash but did not know where she was on Oct. 12 at 12:01 a.m. The officers tracked her phone call to the area of Starr Street and Bridge Street and found her car stuck on a concrete slab alongside the railroad tracks behind Columbia Station. The driver, a 53-year-old woman from Carversvil­le, PA was obviously drunk and blamed her GPS for directing her down the Norfolk Southern line. She failed a series of field sobriety tests, was arrested for DUI, and released to a family member.

• On Oct. 12 at 10:46 a.m.,

a resident in the 200 block of Fillmore Street reported that he discovered a broken window on the front of his home. Officer Fusco informed the resident that we received several reports of an individual shooting a BB gun from a white car around town.

• On Oct. 13 at 1:06 a.m., a man flagged down Officer Dobry in the 300 block of Bridge Street and told the officer that he was visiting from Ireland and had no way of getting back to his hotel on Egypt Road. As a gesture of goodwill, Officer Dobry gave the 30-year-old Irishman a ride to his hotel.

• On Oct. 13 at 2:07 a.m., Officer Dobry saw a man peeing on the sidewalk outside Molly Maguire’s Pub. The 29-year-old man told the officer that he was visiting from the United Kingdom. As a gesture of goodwill, Officer Dobry gave the man a warning about urinating in public.

• On Oct. 13 at 6:49 p.m., a 27-year-old Conshohock­en man reported that he

parked his Toyota Rav4 on Washington Avenue near Gay Street the night before and someone stole it. Officers checked the area and found the car parked on Second Avenue near Main Street.

• On Oct. 14 at 1:30 a.m., Officer Heller saw a highly intoxicate­d man wandering around aimlessly downtown. The 27-year-old Phoenixvil­le man was arrested for public drunkennes­s and released to a friend at the police station.

• Officer Dobry was on bike patrol and noticed a woman passed out in the ATM kiosk at the Wells Fargo bank on Main Street on Oct. 14 at 1:41 a.m. The 23-year-old Philadelph­ia woman was arrested for public drunkennes­s and released when she was sober.

• On Oct. 14 at 3:20 p.m., police responded to the patio bar at the Pickering Creek Inn for an animal complaint. A 26-year-old Audubon man reported that he entered the patio area and another patron’s pit/lab

mix dog jumped up on him and chipped his tooth with its paw. The dog’s owner downplayed the incident and told the man that he must have weak teeth. The injured man wanted the incident documented so he could pursue a civil remedy.

• On Oct. 14 at 5:12 p.m., police responded to the 100 block of Bridge Street for

the report of a parking dispute. A 49-year-old Kimberton man reported that he was trying to parallel park his Volkswagen Touareg but a man was standing in the parking space holding it for someone. He told the man to move and continued to back up into the parking space. The space saver refused to move and

yelled to the VW driver that he was holding the spot for his wife. As the VW inched closer to him, he proceeded to rip the windshield wiper arm off the rear window of the SUV. Several café diners witnessed the incident. The 69-year-old Pottstown man was issued a summons for criminal mischief for damaging the car.
