Here’s a fact. Not fake news. Donald Trump blackmailed the Republican Party. He threatened to run as an independent unless the party recognized him as their candidate. He knew he would split the Republican Party and the Democrats would win. The Republicans gave in. —Night Light

Does anybody know if it is legal for businesses to charge you a fee because you do not want the payment automatically taken out of your account or posted to a credit card? To me this does not seem legal but I don’t know and I’m just looking for somebody else’s opinion.

There are still almost 500 children in cages at the Mexican border waiting for Donald Trump to find their parents that he deported. Shame, shame, shame.

It’s no wonder people hate the Democrats. Trump just keeps bashing them. In my book there are good and bad in both parties. You just think about it. We didn’t have all this hate and crime when Obama was president and all our presidents before. Trump is irrational and a hateful person. I just hope the Democrats get in the White House and put Trump in his place. He’s not a person for our young people to look up to. —Worried Citizen

I took my grandchildren to the Coventry Mall to Trunk or Treat last month. What a great event. I don’t know if they give prizes for the best displays but my vote goes to the super hero display. The line was really long at that display but it was well worth the wait to talk to Superman and Wonder Woman. The Incredible Hulk even entertained us as we waited. The kids loved it.

My bride has chastised me for being careless when I’m doing home projects. Recently I had a horrible fall from a 50-foot extension ladder. Luckily I was only on the second rung when it happened. —Jim Fitch

I started Christmas shopping early and everything I picked up was made in China and very expensive. I think this is ridiculous because according to whatever they only make $2 an hour over there and we’re paying $30, $40, $50 and up for products that they’re selling us in this country. I hope Trump gets this fixed because this is totally ridiculous. I feel so bad for people, you can’t afford things this year.

Just wondering when the town fathers are going to have the Manatawny Creek dredged out so the park doesn’t get flooded over every time it rains and the people don’t have water in their basements. —Wet Feet

Unfortunately I get the feeling that many of today’s young millennials certainly understand their rights in the U.S. but I’m not so sure they understand their responsibilities that go with those rights.

I’m so tired of hearing about Trump and Obama in Sound Off. How about if we go back to the old basics. Where could I find Healthy Ones turkey breast that is sliced in the deli and what store? I’d appreciate if somebody would respond.

After we just had this big storm here in Pottstown we’d hope they would end up getting a leaf vacuum truck and take care of these leaves so the flooding doesn’t happen again.

I wish someone could make those Democrats stop telling their lie that Trump is going to drain Medicare and Social Security. Obama already did it. He took the Medicare money and the Social Security money and gave it to the banks and the car companies to bail them out. So don’t say Trump is taking any money out of it. Obama drained it.

I’d like to thank all the nurses on the third floor for their beautiful voices. My birthday was Oct. 30 and I was in the hospital unable to be at home to have my birthday and all the nurses came in and sang to me and gave me a beautiful card. I just wanted to thank them all for their precious care and thank you so much for the happy birthday singing and the card. They were wonderful.

It’s hard to believe some of the statements in Sound Off. There’s a statement in there from somebody that cited violence by Donald Trump. Has that person been living under a rock for the last six months? They haven’t been listening to Dianne Feinstein, to Maxine Waters, “Impeach him, impeach him.” They haven’t been listening to Pocahontas, to Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer. Where have these people been? Under a rock for the last six months surely. Sound Off is a forum to spur dialogue from residents of the communities we serve on topics of interest in those communities.
