Substance violations lead borough crime

POTTSTOWN >> Drug and alcohol violations were the leading crime in Pottstown over the last month.

According to crimemappi­ng.com, a policerun website used to inform the public about crime in their area, seven incidents have included drug or alcohol violations in the past week. Three of those seven cases involved public drunkennes­s and were reported on East High Street, Beech Street and the 400 block of Farmington Avenue. Drug possession was reported three times as well on King Street, North Warren Street and the 600 block of Industrial Highway. One drug sale was reported on the 800 block of Farmington Avenue.

Assault was the second most reported crime in Pottstown. Two cases of non-aggravated assault were reported on King Street and the 400 block of Farmington Avenue along with one assault involving a firearm on the 100 block of North Charlotte Street. Another reported assault occurred on the 400 block of West King Street and an assault involving hands, feet and fists was reported on the 500 block of Walnut Street.

Incidents involving disturbing the peace and theft were each reported four times since Oct. 30. Two cases of harassment occurred on the 400 block of King

Street and the 100 block of South Keim Street while another two cases of disorderly conduct were reported on the 400 block of East High Street and the 600 block of Chestnut Street. Two retail thefts occurred on the 300 block of North Hanover Street and the 200 block of Shoemaker Road, along with a theft from buildings on the 300 block of East High Street and a theft of bicycles on the 600 block of Manatawny Street.

Three burglaries were reported over the past week. Those burglaries were reported on the 1100 block of East High Street, the 300 block of East High Street and the 100 block of Walnut Street.

Vandalism to buildings and vehicle theft were both reported twice. Vehicle thefts occurred on the 800 block of South Street and King Street while vandalism was reported on the 400 block of Lincoln Avenue and the 900 block of North Charlotte Street.

DUI, vehicle break-ins, fraud and robbery were all reported once since Oct. 30. A strong arm robbery was reported on the 400 block of East High Street while a vehicle break-in was reported on the 500 block of King Street. Fraud was reported on North York Street while a DUI was reported on North Adams Street.
