PennDOT to hold open house for Collegeville-area bridge project

PennDOT will hold an open house public plans display on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 7:00 p.m.

The open house will take place in Methacton High School at 1005 Kriebel Mill Road in Eagleville to inform citizens about the upcoming project to improve travel and safety on both sides of the bridge carrying Ridge Pike over Perkiomen Creek in Collegeville and Lower Providence Township.

The purpose of the open house is to present the public with progress plans and a status update on the project. The meeting will be conducted as an open-house plans display where citizens will have the opportunity to circulate among the subject displays to gather information and discuss the different facets of the project with PennDOT’s design team.

Under this project, PennDOT will realign and reconfigure roadways and intersections on either side of the bridge including Route 29, Main Street, Ridge Pike and Germantown Pike. Route 29 (1st Avenue) will be realigned to run directly into Route 29 (Second Avenue) in Collegeville Borough.

Across the bridge into Lower Providence Township, the Ridge Pike and Germantown Pike intersection will be improved along with a new alignment of tying Germantown Pike into Ridge Pike further east. The new Germantown Pike extension will run from Ridge Pike to Pechins Mill Road.

The Perkiomen Creek Bridge was built in 1799 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Construction bids on this project are expected to open in 2022.
