Pottsgrove boys tennis downs Boyertown 6-1

It got extended to three sets in two doubles pairings, and to a tiebreaker in a third.

But the Pottsgrove boys tennis team remained stout through Tuesday’s match with Boyertown. The Falcons won three of the four doubles contests, meshing that effort with a sweep of singles play to score a 6-1 victory over the Bears in Pioneer Athletic Conference play.

Pottsgrove’s second-doubles tandem of Frazier Thomas and Luke Kaiser rallied for a 6-3, 6-0 victory while the Falcons’ fourth doubles of Frank Gagliardi and Michael Krueger also came from behind for a tie-breaker verdict. At third doubles, Noah Miller and Wyatt Lear bounced back from a 6-4 loss in the first set to prevail in the next two, 6-2, 6-3.

Pottsgrove got its other victories from Jason Watts at first singles, Troy Watts at second singles and Charlie McAllister at third singles. Boyertown’s lone point was scored by its first-doubles team of Colin Brisbois and Derek Dierolf, which posted a 0-6, 6-2, 6-3 win. PERKIOMEN VALLEY 7, NORRISTOWN 0 » Evan Bolton and Jeremy Hadler led a solid showing in doubles play that enabled the Vikings to roll to victory over the Eagles in their PAC match.

Bolton/Hadler scored a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at fourth doubles, heading a big effort by PV in dropping just three games in the bracket. Ben Maus and Carter Young were equally as stout in singles play, yielding just one game in their respective second and third-singles matches. OWEN J. The Gross/Sawicki tandem dropped just one game at second doubles, as did Ryan Angelo and Jacob Griste at third doubles. Roberts took all matches from UM in straight sets, with Sam Savage adding a 6-2, 6-0 verdict at third singles.
