Cultivating Experiences for the Experienced
In the next 20 years, millions of Baby Boomers will be 80 or older, pondering their next moves. For some, the obvious next step will be some form of a senior living community, but many will be looking for options that aren’t available today. What is the industry doing to anticipate their demands and how many are embracing these changes presently?
This industry has been focused for so long on health care — comfort, care and security. That’s why it serves such a limited number of consumers, less than 10 percent of the market out there. Senior living providers prepare to welcome a generation that prioritizes experiences more than just security, comfort and access to health care. The great ones are doing it already.
People want to experience a set of emotions on a regular basis. They want to feel their lives are purposeful and meaningful. They want to be useful to others … to be deeply engaged with family, friends and a larger community. To continue to grow and learn, to experience pleasure on a regular basis.
Executive Director at Spring Mill Karen Garland ensures there’s always a variety of activities and events going on at her community, located in Phoenixville. She says, “We take pride in thinking outside of the box when orchestrating experiences for our residents. From exercise classes and seminars, educational presentations and live entertainment, there’s never a dull moment.” She continues, “Throughout the year, we plan parties and charity events, whether at the community or on-thetown, in order to offer our residents multi-faceted activities and events to take part in and multiply the opportunity to meet new people. I want them to find it difficult to decide what to do next. Not because of a lack options, but because of the appeal of ALL of them options.”
In the next three months alone, Spring Mill has events planned the cover the gambit of experiential learning, in addition to their daily Celebrations Activities & Events:
March 28, Noon – 2 p.m: A Senior Safety Symposium with Lisa Bodor, Director of Outpatient Rehab Services at Genesis, who joins our Director of Facilities, Jason Valenti, to share expertise on ways to stay safe in any environment.
April 23, 2:30 – 3:30 p.m: A “Spring Into Action” Event that takes place in the Media Room.
May 29, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.: A day-long Health Fair that will have action stations supervision by healthcare professional all across the community.
Each event includes lunch and refreshments, and complimentary community tours. Can’t make it to one of these events? Call us today at 610-422-3975 or visit our website at SpringMillSeniorLiving.com to schedule a free lunch and tour any day of the week.
Baby Boomers want a living experience that’s both challenging and exciting. If they leave their homes for a senior living community, they want to know they are embracing something exciting that offers new possibilities. At Spring Mill, we take that to heart.
