AUDUBON >> J.P. Mascaro & Sons has been awarded a waste services contract to serve Ursinus College with onsite waste collection and recycling services. The contract was effective July 1.

“Our company is extremely pleased to be providing waste services for Ursinus College, which, like Mascaro, is firmly committed to the reduction, reuse and recycling of waste materials, and to the important concept of ‘sustainability’ as it relates to solid waste management,” Sam Augustine, J.P. Mascaro director of sales, said in a press release.

J. P. Mascaro has committed to what it calls a sustainable customer service system, according to the company. Supporting that approach are the company’s TotalRecycle facility, a fully-automated 85,000 square foot single stream recycling facility; A&M Composting, where waste materials are composted and beneficially re-used; and the Pioneer Crossing Landfill, a modern DEP end-use facility for materials not able to be recycled or re-used. Pioneer Crossing Landfill creates green energy from its onsite gas to energy plant, according to the release.

Ursinus College’s 170-acre campus is located in Collegeville. A liberal arts college, Ursinus has 1,500 students, according to the college’s website. The waste services contract with Mascaro is a new one, although the company has serviced the school in the past, according to company spokesman Frank Sau.

J. P. Mascaro & Sons, with headquarters in Audubon in Montgomery County, was founded more than 50 years ago and is a third generation privately-owned company. For more information visit www.jpmascaro.com.
