5 Questions with … Maris Grove resident Ed Lorenz

-

“I like to think and to be involved.” That’s the philosophy of Ed Lorenz, a retired vice president of technology at DuPont. Ed encourages people to move toMaris Grove, a developed and managed Erickson Living retirement community in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, while they can enjoy its carefree, active lifestyle. “It’s better to move two or three years too soon rather than one year too late,” he says.

Ed recently spoke about what he enjoys about living at Maris Grove:

How long have you lived at Maris Grove?

11 years in October. I moved here with my beloved wife of 61+ years, Til, who passed away in 2017.

Where did you move from?

We moved from Greenville, Delaware, after 51 years.

What activities do you enjoy on campus?

I co-chair the DuPont Retirees Club here at Maris Grove, serve on the Maris Grove Philanthropy Advisory Council, and chair the Maris Grove Scholarship Committee, which awards scholarships to student servers who work in the campus restaurants and meet certain scholastic and job-performance requirements. I also serve on the Board of Directors (Treasurer) of the GermanAmerican Club and enjoy playing pinochle many evenings and “Hand and Foot” (a form of Canasta). Plus, I enjoy taking one-day Maris Grove bus trips and attending performances by nearby Performing Arts Associations.

What activities are you involved in off-campus?

Church-related activities, golf with our son and two of our grandsons, going out to lunch with friends and family members and spending time at the “shore” (Avalon, New Jersey). I also am involved (when asked) with people still working for DuPont, the company I retired from after 37 years of service.

What is your favorite part of living at Maris Grove?

The comfort that I feel in knowing that I have a “home for life” and the “peace of mind” that it provides my loved ones!
