2019 Chester County Trial Run 5K raises more than $15,000
DOWNINGTOWN >> The 15th annual Trial Run 5K raised $15,775 for free civil legal aid for low-income and vulnerable people.
Legal Aid of Southeastern Pennsylvania thanks all sponsors, runners, walkers and supporters for joining us on a sun-splashed Struble Trail, Downingtown, on June 15.
Since its inception in 2005, the Trial Run 5K has raised more than $249,000 for legal aid.
LASP gives special thanks to Kristen Wetzel Ladd, Esq., of Unruh, Turner, Burke & Frees for her work on behalf of this and other Trial Run 5Ks since 2011 and as cochair since circa 2014.
“Kristen has been a huge supporter of LASP and the Trial Run for many years,” said Brian Doyle, LASP Staff Attorney, Chester County Pro Bono Coordinator, and the other co-chair of the Chester County Bar Association’s Trial Run Committee. “Kristen’s devotion of her time, energy, and effort have made our race possible. We can’t thank her enough for contributing her expertise and insight,” Doyle said. He also thanked Lowell Ladd and 2L Race Services for the logistical support.
Tom Parlapiano won first place in the men’s division with 16:59, and Mark Langan finished second at 18:00. Allison Hopkins won the women’s division at 21:23 and Sara Planthaber, former LASP intern, was second at 23:59. The 48 runners and walkers were ages 4 to 70, with eight competitors in the 19-and-under division and five participants in the 60-andover division.
